The 81st Texas Legislature (2009) created the Office of the Independent Ombudsman for State Supported Living Centers (OIO). The Ombudsman’s office provides oversight and protection for residents of state supported living centers. The OIO also acts as an advocate for residents, their families and legally authorized guardians. Our office is charged with ensuring residents receive due process and that they know how to file a complaint with a state center.
