Welcome to Johnny Rockets, the home of all-American food and fun. Opened on June 6, 1986, our restaurant was created with a simple goal in mind: to serve American classics in an exciting atmosphere that invites great times and delivers equally great food. A place where friends and families can relax and escape their everyday routines while enjoying the spirit of yesterday. And a place where dancing servers and twirled straws are welcomed and celebrated. With over 300 restaurants found everywhere from local neighborhoods to international waters, Johnny Rockets serves 17 million hamburgers, over 8 million shakes and 8 million pounds of American Fries each year. With each bite and every sip, all Johnny Rockets restaurants deliver the same promise—that you’ll get the freshest food possible in one of the most casual and memorable settings imaginable. Located on South Street, the 60-seater has a true neighborhood feel, with cozy booths, counter seating and a small bar at which the full menu is available. The focal point of the dining room is an open kitchen where Chef and his team work their culinary magic. Serving dinner only, the cuisine is ingredient-driven offering a seasonally evolving menu of playful yet familiar takes on global fare. A small hand-picked list of food-friendly wines perfectly complement the menu and the quality cocktail program focuses on boutique spirits.
Some of the best memories are made at the breakfast table. And for more than 50 years, millions of people have made those memories at IHOP.

In 1962, when Shank and Evelyn Perri opened their luncheonette in South Philly’s Italian Market, they had no idea their establishment would become a Philadelphia icon. They called the place, simply, Shank & Evelyn’s and dedicated themselves to serving the best Classic Philly Sandwiches. All marketing was done the old school way - by word of mouth. Politicians came. Sports stars came. Show biz personalities came. They rubbed elbows with locals as they savored the Shank’s signature sandwiches. All thought of Shank’s as THE place to go when they were craving for the Original Taste of Philly. And nobody ever left hungry. Phil McFillin, developer, entrepreneur and restaurateur re-created Shank’s Original in a new, convenient location. With black and white checkerboard tile walls and neon lights that evoke the hearty, homey eateries of the 1950s and 1960s, the new Shank’s carries on the original legacy started 50 years ago. Shank’s continues to serve award winning Philly Cheesesteaks, Chicken Cutlets with Broccoli Rabe and Sharp Provolone, Old School Italian Hoagies and other Italian delicacies. Withstanding the test of time, Shank’s truly is the Original Taste of Philly. There is no secret to Shank’s success: “We use the finest ingredients and freshest bread to create the best Classic Philly Sandwiches. There is South Philly passion and pride behind every handmade Shank’s sandwich. Shank’s makes every sandwich with love. We take pride in offering high quality products with exceptional service to our customers.”

I'm Joe Beren aka Fat Joe, cooking has always been in my blood, from Aunt Dot to Grandmom Jane and the most amazing parents ever, Nick and Marie. I started making breakfast in 1997 in my uncles cafe and continued to hone my skills for years off and on, in the summer of 2001 I started working in a Wildwood Crest deli and learned the ins and outs of the lunch business. A short time later, I opened Fat Joes Lunch Box on Sheridan and Oregon. I didn't feel after a few years that my talents were where they needed to be. Business sold. Several years, many life experiences, and many food network late nights later (and a great bunch of people's support) FAT JOES at 3rd and Shunk was born. My fat kid cooking style (my own style) is a great mixture of years of eating ,watching and taste testing. Never trust a skinny chef. I just enjoy creating and serving new food.
