“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Luminescence is the private practice established by Paolo C. Perez, certified Reiki practitioner. Sessions may be booked either at my studio at 23rd and Park Ave South, or at my home studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. In home sessions are also available. It is my hope that we can use this page as a way to come together and create a community based around the desire to live a happy and whole life. What is Reiki? "Rei" means 'universal', and refers to the spiritual dimension and the soul "Ki" means 'vital life force energy', which flows through all that is alive When combined, these Japanese characters present the concept of 'universal life force energy'. Since Reiki is universal, it is safely used at any time, in any place. Reiki, as a universal concept, is applicable or common to all purposes, conditions, or situations. How does it work? Our bodies wish solely to heal. In many circumstances our experiences create blockages in the paths through which our bodies heal. Reiki helps to remove those blockages and allow our bodies to more effectively perform at peak efficiency. Reiki is a low-contact healing practice that works by activating the energies of your body by the precise application of "hands on" techniques. Think of it like a massage. Similar to the way a massage therapist can relieves one's muscles, a Reiki practitioner is able to work with the body on a deeper level. Is Reiki for you? Reiki is an extremely effective self help technique that will help treat nearly any condition, whether physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional. Reiki enhances medical treatments and does not interfere or conflict in any way with medications, surgery, or other medical procedures. In fact, Reiki is particularly effective when used prior to and immediately after surgery Reiki can be used to treat any number of conditions, including, but not limited to: Asthma, Chronic back pain, Crohn's disease, Cramps, Depression, Diabetes, Emphysema, Eczema, Fever, Frequent headaches, Food poisoning, High or Low blood pressure, Morning sickness, Physical injury, Rash, Scars, Sleep deprivation, Stress and Anxiety, Sunburn, Sore muscles, Swelling, Vomiting, Whiplash, and symptoms of Withdrawal. For a more comprehensive list, or to have a discussion regarding your own condition, please feel free to reach out to Luminescence by phone or email. The time to take control of your happiness and well being is now. Please do not hesitate to reach and schedule your first, free, consultation today. ~Namaste~

Thrive Acupuncture is the manifestation of an exploration of the benefits of feeling good. Be it physical or emotional, our happiness is compromised when we experience pain or discomfort. From your first consultation, we will work together to identify the areas of your health you seek to change and the origin of these imbalances. Drawing from Chinese medicine and other Eastern holistic medicinal therapies, including acupuncture, herbal formulas, nutritional counseling, bodywork, and yoga, we will address these concerns, restoring the body to it’s optimal state of wellness and working to maintain this equilibrium long after your treatments are complete. At Thrive Acupuncture, the emphasis is on the individual, with focus on creating lasting change from the inside out. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all health care, nor do I believe that physical health is separate from mental health. I do believe that real change requires adaptability and commitment, and addressing problems at the root will heed the best results. As the body transforms, so do the healing techniques I apply. The Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy and Training

WELCOME TO THE GESTALT CENTER FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY AND TRAINING, located in the historic Flatiron District of New York City. We offer post-graduate training, extensive workshops and weekend intensives for mental health professionals, as well as therapy referrals to Gestalt therapists. WHAT IS GESTALT THERAPY? Gestalt therapy is an interactive and holistic form of psychotherapy that focuses on the total person, recognizing the unity of the mind, body and emotions. An integrated body of theory and practice having its roots in psychoanalysis, it originated in the 1940's when Drs. Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls , both classically trained psychoanalysts, became aware of the limitations of Freud's verbal, intellectual methods based on free association. They began to develop methods based on Gestalt Psychology, in which they expanded psychoanalysis to include a more holistic form of free association that covers all sense modalities, including emotions and body-awareness that cannot easily be put into words. They also modified Freud's method of encouraging projections by sitting behind the patient, realizing that the subtle avoidances of contact that clients engage in spontaneously and habitually are more significant than those produced in an artificial situation -- a view now accepted by many schools of psychoanalysis. As it exists today, Gestalt therapy draws on humanistic psychology, existentialism and Eastern thought in addition to its psychoanalytic roots. A creative and patient approach that is non-authoritarian and non-interpretive, Gestalt therapy focuses on the client’s here and now experience. Through skillful use of a variety of experiential methods, our therapy helps us to free energy locked into old, dysfunctional behavior patterns and re-organize ourselves in a way that allows us to live more fully and effectively, centered in ourselves, yet able to reach out and take in what the world has to offer.
