The Herbst Theatre is an auditorium in the War Memorial and Performing Arts Center in Civic Center in San Francisco, California, United States. Rainbow Grocery Cooperative is a worker-owned and run food cooperative located in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1975, Rainbow Grocery is a member of NoBAWC and the United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives.HistoryAlthough it quickly became a secular project, Rainbow Grocery was started as a bulk food-buying program by an ashram that existed in San Francisco in the early 1970s. The buying program was coordinated by an ashram member who also worked for the People’s Common Operating Warehouse of San Francisco, a political project using food distribution as a form of community organizing and political education. The People’s Warehouse was striving to build a “People’s Food System,” including a network of small community food stores throughout San Francisco. Rainbow Grocery opened a storefront in the summer of 1975 on 16th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. At this time, the People’s Food System already had two stores in San Francisco: Seeds of Life, in the lower Mission District, and Noe Valley Community Store. The ashram members who organized the opening of Rainbow Grocery did so largely by studying and copying the operations of the Noe Valley store. Rainbow Grocery opened with exclusively volunteer labor. After the first few months, there was enough income to pay the project’s two most active workers. As the store became increasingly successful, it was able to bring more workers on as paid staff, although people were generally not brought on to payroll until after several months of consistent volunteering. As the staff at Rainbow grew larger, the need for more defined organizational relationships also increased.

App Academy’s model “reverses the traditional incentive structure for higher education”; this has received media attention and was described by Wired as “flipping the script on student loans”. 93% of App Academy’s first cohort found jobs, paying an average salary of $83,000. If a student does not find a career within the first year of graduation, the individual is not charged for tuition. Currently, 98% of App Academy graduates find jobs, with an average salary of $105,000 in San Francisco and $89,000 in New York City. Since the establishment of App Academy, over 700 graduates have been placed at tech companies such as Google, Facebook, Pinterest, Cisco, and more.The ProgramApp Academy, as of 2014, reported an acceptance rate of about 5%. Individuals who applied for the program ranged from “top Ivy League graduates to someone who used to be a night janitor.” During the admissions process, students are required to complete introductory level coding work to show programmer potential, however, applicants do not need to have prior coding experience to apply. Once accepted, students can expect to allocate 90–100 hours per week for coding. The curriculum covers the full stack of web development, but primarily focuses on Ruby on Rails and Javascript while spending substantial time on React, Flux, JQuery and SQL. The San Francisco Pretrial Diversion Project (SFPDP) was established in 1976 through the joint efforts of a group of socially conscious citizens, the San Francisco Bar Association and the Judges of the Municipal Courts. Their Experience had shown that most individuals charged with a misdemeanor offense did not benefit perceptibly by jail time. They were convinced that both the goals of crime prevention and rehabilitation would be better served by an alternative program of rehabilitation, education, and community service work. SFPDP was formed to provide “first time” misdemeanor offenders of non violent charges an opportunity to have their case dismissed by completing a program. Continuing our tradition and philosophy of “Dignity and Respect, Compassion and Accountability/” SFPDP added more programs design to address various needs of the Court, the Clients and the Community such as Court Accountable Case Management, Court Accountable Homeless Services, Community Involvement Team Yes!, The Navigator Project, Neighborhood Courts, No Violence Alliance, Own Recognizance, Pretrial Diversion, Project 20 / Project 22, & Supervised Pretrial Release

San Francisco's newest nightclub & event space. Verso, which translates to "on the turned page" in Latin, will be located in the space of a former printing press. The space will feature a state-of-the-art sound system featuring fifteen speakers and six subwoofers from the Dutch company Alcons Audio which will guarantee premier, distortion-free sound quality for revelers. This is the first system to be installed in the U.S. and we're very excited about debuting it on September 18th when we open to the public. The dramatic warehouse location opens up to a spacious dance floor flanked by a 20-foot long, white Carrera marble bar, allowing guests to conveniently order cocktails while enjoying the music. Four private tables with dedicated hosts and a reserved dancing area will be located on the ground level, while an additional five tables on the mezzanine level will provide a prime vantage point for viewing the dance floor below. Each table will be equipped with fresh-squeezed juice mixers and can accommodate up to 20 guests, in addition to bottle service, table service will also include craft cocktail service. Verso is also a premiere event space that can host 400+ guests.
