The University Club of New York is a private social club located at 1 West 54th Street at Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York, New York. It received its charter in 1865, but the origins date back to the autumn of 1861 when a group of college friends, principally Yale alumni, founded the club hoping to extend their collegial ties. The club is not affiliated with any other University Club or college alumni clubs.HistoryThe first meeting was held in the rooms of the Columbia College Law School, where Theodore Dwight, the Club's first president and a Hamilton College alumnus, was a professor. After several moves, the club took over an existing town house at 26th Street and Madison Avenue in 1883.Founded to celebrate the union of social duty and intellectual life, the Club states in its charter that the purpose of the organization shall be the "promotion of Literature and Art by establishing and maintaining a Library, Reading Room and Gallery of Art, and by such other means as shall be expedient and proper for such purposes." In addition to its many grand architectural features, the University Club hosts one of New York's great private art collections, with a particularly strong group of works by great American painters such as Gilbert Stuart and Childe Hassam, who featured the Club's facade in his work "Allies Day, May 1917".

O New York English Institute nasceu em 2008. The New York English Institute began back in 2008. The owner of the Institute, Ismael Alves, was born and raised in Brazil and faced the challenge of learning English himself. From the time he was young his goal was to attend a University in the United States. For many years he studied at several English schools in Brazil to prepare him to achieve his goal. When he arrived in the United States he quickly discovered that his English abilities were not at the level he had expected them to be. He realized that the time he spent attending classes at the English schools could have been more productive and efficient. He also met other International students who felt that they were not prepared to communicate in English. He then started developing a method where people can learn English and be prepared to communicate fluently with natives. After several years of research and development the New York English Institute is proud to bring to Brazil a new approach to learning English as a second language. We invest our time and efforts in preparing our students for advantages in business opportunities, as well as touristic traveling and studying abroad. With an innovative method we prepare our students for an increasingly competitive world where English has become the international language of business. By using qualified native teachers our students learn the most up to date English and are able to achieve fluency at a faster pace. Throughout the courses we provide our students with opportunities to travel abroad in order to strengthen what they are learning. Our students are not limited to tourism vocabulary, but are able to communicate in a broad range of situations. Our objective is to provide high quality courses to those who want to learn English. Incorporated into our program is the latest technology, which makes it possible for our students to have contact with English on a daily basis. As they progress through the courses they develop fluency in writing, reading, speaking and understanding English. It is a privilege for us to be the starting point of success in the lives of many people. We are excited to see our students receive more opportunities and change their lives as a result of learning English.
