Jackson's original town site, built in 1915 as a livery stable, we have come a long way since then! It wasn't until 1918 that we were converted into a Yellow Stone stage coach, taking visitors to and from this historic park. Two years later, in 1920, we became the Model T Ford Dealership. As 1930 rolled along the theatre became a bowling ally, mercantile, and local post office (original PO Boxes still on our premises). In 1948, Vera Channey brought her first piano player from New York City and transformed the previous mercantile into a theatre. Since then we have been known as Diamond Littles, Dirty Jacks, The Pink Garter, and now we are The Jackson Hole Playhouse. Bringing you professional entertainment 6 days a week! From America's longest running shoot out in Town Square, to a delicious meal in our Family Rock Saddle Saloon (complete with our professional actors serving and crooning your favorite western tunes), to a charming preshow, personal seating from actors, and a fully staged western musical. Through our New York City auditions, we follow in Vera Channey's foot steps bringing the best talent NYC has to offer. We invite you to join us for a night of entertainment and western hospitality!
The Pink Garter Theatre was started in 1959 by Paula Jeffries, a richly flamboyant woman described by one source as “the most beautiful ugly woman I’ve ever met in my life.”
