Permanent Affordable Live-Work housing for Artists Fundamental to the arts in Boston is a place for artists to live and work. That place is Midway Artist Studios, 89 live-work studios located in Fort Point in Boston, just a short walk from South Station. As Boston’s largest affordable live-work building, Midway Artist Studios was established in 2005 as a place for artists to live and work affordably in Boston, when the real estate boom swept through Fort Point and displaced hundreds of working artists. Midway Artist Studios is unique and pivotal as the only remaining artist rental building in Fort Point. The rental model allows emerging artists a place to stay and work in Boston, and artists from around the world to come and work in Boston. It encourages the free flow of ideas between disciplines and generations. In 2014, the artists organized themselves to purchase the building, making it a permanent rental artist controlled building, run by a board of directors, elected in part by the artist residents themselves. Founded in 2009 by Kate and James Wormser, Lot F Gallery has been filling a void in Boston's gallery selection, dedicating itself to our artists and the community. As a pillar in the local gallery scene, we give truly talented, new contemporary artists a platform to shine on and show their cutting edge works to collectors and art enthusiasts. Located in an industrial loft near South Station, the gallery is open most Saturdays, and by appointment.
The Distillery Gallery is an art gallery and project space located in South Boston, with a focus on promoting interesting and engaging art, working with artists from the Distillery, Boston, and beyond. The Gallery is on the first floor of The Distillery , a community of artists, artisans, and small businesses located in a converted rum warehouse building in South Boston. For more than twenty years The Distillery has been a hub of creativity and the arts in the city.
Fort Point’s dynamic new Boston Button Factory is a homage to the vibrant history of a neighborhood that is rapidly changing its character. Blending the industrial and artistic strands which dominated its past, the BBF looks to keep this past alive by manufacturing huge artistic renderings of buttons which are used as stand-alone pieces as well as parts of larger exhibits. The impetus of the BBF came when vintage photos were found which documented the original use of the building by the Boston Button Co., a button manufacturer which dissolved in 1872. In a nod to yesterday, the BBF harkens back to the days before cubicles, condos, and fancy restaurants to create a space where buttons are created, by hand, in large numbers through hard work and care. These buttons, sewn into the fabric of the Fort Point’s heritage, are your opportunity to acquire a piece of Boston’s past and present before Fort Point continues its inevitable transformation into an exclusive, upscale
FP3 Gallery is housed on the first floor of FP3 Residences, a renovated 19th century warehouse building. The Congress Street building was redeveloped in 2009 by Berkeley Investments, with design by noted architect David Hacin, of Hacin & Associates. FP3 Gallery focuses on solo exhibitions of outstanding Boston-area artists and is located in Fort Point, a thriving center of arts, culture, and culinary creativity.

What's ArtLifting? ArtLifting is a social enterprise that empowers individuals who are in art programs at hospitals and shelters by selling their artwork. We are a low-profit limited liability company ("L3C"), which means we are a business driven by a social mission. Our mission is to help artists who are disabled, sick, or homeless artists find self-empowerment through the celebration and sale of their work. How'd we get started? As a college student, Liz Powers wrote a thesis which explored the social benefits of art therapy programs. Upon graduating from college, Liz created art groups in women's shelters in Cambridge, Mass. She realized that there were many great art therapy programs in Boston, but the missing piece was an equally empowering method for the artists to share their artwork. A first step. In 2011, Liz founded City Heart, an annual art show in Boston which offered a professional marketplace for members of eight local shelters to sell artwork to customers. In 2012, Liz's brother, Spencer, joined the team to help with the finances and logistics and by 2013, the show had grown to include 70 artists. While the show was a local success, Liz and Spencer started brainstorming how to create a large-scale and sustainable marketplace for art therapy artists. Why not provide a professional marketplace for these artists year round? Why not help artists in hospitals and disability centers as well as shelters? Why not expand outside Boston? In addition, customers were always excitedly asking the same question at the check-out counter: "When's the next show!?" It was clear that there were so many reasons to grow and expand the mission, but we needed a sustainable and scalable way to do it. The result is ArtLifting! Founded in October 2013 as a low-profit limited liability company ("L3C"), ArtLifting is the social enterprise solution for homeless and disabled artists. We are driven by our mission and seek to empower our artists by providing a professional gallery where they can sell their work.
