The site, which included the Woolf Brothers and Volk Brothers department stores, was one of the busiest blocks in downtown Dallas. Adjacent blocks included the Neiman Marcus Building, Wilson Building, Titche-Goettinger Building and Mercantile National Bank Building. The entire block from Ervay to St. Paul was leveled to make way for the new tower. It is the tenth tallest building in the city. In January 2010 the building was closed due to low occupancy rates.HistoryThe $35 million skyscraper was designed for the First National Bank in Dallas by architects George Dahl and Thomas E. Stanley, built to replace First National's home on Main Street. The exterior, featuring a dark and light contrasting theme, was clad in more than of dark gray glass and white marble imported from Greece. The building's construction began in 1961 and used more than 25,000 tons of steel. At the time of opening in 1965, it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River, until surpassed by 555 California Street in San Francisco in 1969. It was the tallest in Texas until 1971, when One Shell Plaza was built in Houston. In 1974, Renaissance Tower became the tallest in Dallas.

Diecezja Dallas jest diecezją Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego w północnej części stanu Teksas.HistoriaDiecezja została kanonicznie erygowana 15 lipca 1890 przez papieża Leona XIII. Wyodrębniono ją z terenów ówczesnej diecezji diecezji Galveston. Pierwszym ordynariuszem został kapłan pochodzenia irlandzkiego z diecezji Erie Thomas Francis Brennan (1853-1916). Diecezja kilkakrotnie traciła część terytoriów, rosnąca liczba katolików w regionie powodowała bowiem rozrastanie się struktur kościelnych w Teksasie. Za 43 letniej kadencji bpa Josepha Lyncha powstały diecezje: El Paso, Amarillo i Austin. W latach 1953-1969 diecezja Dallas nosiła nazwę diecezja Dallas-Fort Worth. 9 sierpnia 1969 po ustanowieniu nowej diecezji Fort Worth, diecezja Dallas powróciła do starej nazwy.OrdynariuszeThomas Francis Brennan (1890-1892)Edward Joseph Dunne (1893-1910)Joseph Patrick Lynch (1911-1954)Thomas Kiely Gorman (1954-1969)Thomas Tschoepe (1969-1990)Charles Grahmann (1990-2007)Kevin Farrell (2007-2016)

Assassination of John F. Kennedy
Distance: 0.9 mi Competitive Analysis

Dallas, TX 75202
