"Swing dance" is most commonly known as a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazz music in the 1920s-1950s. Swing dance includes Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Charleston, Balboa, Solo Jazz, and many more unique styles that even predate Swing era music. We are a bunch of students who love Swing dancing and so we started a community at USD. Come join us and spread the Swing addiction far and wide! We are very welcoming and will take any USD student, from absolute beginner to dancer extraordinaire, as long as they love swingin'.
Here students get a chance to meet and learn from USD alumni and practice Networking. Many students will find people in their major field.

The Character Development Center was established in the late nineties as one of the first organizations focusing on emerging interest in the character development of children and youth, the growing need to implement character education in schools, and the recognized demand to prepare teachers, parents, and others for their role as character educators.
While learning communities are increasingly popular among colleges and universities across the nation, LLCs at USD stand out as part of a comprehensive first-year experience. Each LLC theme is linked to related preceptorials, first-year core curriculum courses that are limited to 18 first-year students and taught by a full-time faculty member who also serves as your academic advisor until you choose your major. As your primary mentor, your preceptor opens the door to a higher level of intellectual inquiry, and guides you through such practicalities as registration and careful course planning. Our award-winning faculty preceptors are engaging, sought after as student advisors, and dedicated to their students and to their LLC.
