The Chicago Bar Foundation brings Chicago’s legal community together to improve access to justice for people in need and make the legal system more fair and efficient for everyone. The CBF accomplishes this by increasing access to free and affordable legal assistance for people in need, and making the courts and legal system more user-friendly and accessible for people without lawyers. Through grants, advocacy, pro bono and partnerships, the CBF takes a system-wide approach to improving access to justice and focuses on objectives that are best achieved by the legal community working together. More specifically, the CBF works to: • Strengthen our community’s pro bono and legal aid organizations • Enable dedicated lawyers to pursue careers in legal aid • Maximize opportunities for pro bono lawyers to effectively supplement the work of their legal aid counterparts • Make the courts and legal system more user-friendly and accessible for those in need As the charitable arm of The Chicago Bar Association, the CBF’s work is made possible by the generous contributions of thousands of dedicated lawyers and legal professionals, more than 200 law firms and corporations, and many other committed partners. Thanks to that strong support, the CBF awarded over $4.6 million in grants in 2013 and continues to play a lead role in a number of innovative access to justice initiatives. At SOS Children’s Villages Illinois, we build families. We provide a stable home in a supportive community environment designed to help children in need grow into caring, productive, and self-reliant adults. To accomplish this mission, SOS Children’s Villages Illinois (SOSCVI) operates an 18 home Village in Lockport (opened in 1993) and a 16 home Village in Chicago (opened in 2005). SOS Children’s Villages are designed as complete neighborhoods with homes, a community center, a playground, other recreational facilities, and supportive services. Each home is headed by a full-time parent committed to raising up to six children at a time. Each foster parent is a professionally trained SOSCVI employee whose full-time job is to raise and nurture the children in their care. Unlike traditional foster parents, for whom parenting is often a temporary arrangement and who may have employment outside their home, SOSCVI parents make a full-time, long-term commitment to raising a generation of children in a family setting. In addition to Licensed Clinical Social Workers working with the children and families, we maintain a commitment to professional development, programs that foster emotional wellbeing, and a network of community resources to enrich the family experience and provide critical support. SOS-Kinderdorf International, the parent organization under which SOS Children’s Villages Illinois operates, began in Europe in 1945 when Hermann Gmeiner, a young Austrian medical student, came to the aid of children orphaned or abandoned during World War II. He opened the first SOS Children’s Village in Imst, Austria in 1949; today, SOS-Kinderdorf International is the largest child welfare agency in the world.

The Burnham Park Yacht Club represents more than a building, docks and grounds to serve its members, it is a connection between men and women who have worked during the last sixty six years to honor the original Club goals identified in the September 14, 1938 papers of its incorporation. These original goals have been honored and have been broadened as expansion and changes came to the Club facilities and to Burnham Harbor. The Burnham Park Yacht Club is situated in the newly configured Museum Campus Area of Chicago's lakefront and is located on Northerly Island which forms the Eastern shore of Burnham Harbor, the most sheltered harbor in Chicago. The clubhouse provides views facing the harbor offering magnificent views of the harbor activity as well as a panoramic vista of Chicago's skyline, said to be the most exquisite view of Chicago.
