Wrigleyville's premier country sports bar takes its name from University of Alabama coach Bear Bryant’s trademark houndstooth fedora, and this Wrigleyville bar is pure ‘Bama from the crimson color scheme to the black-and-white photos of Bryant. Look for the namesake checkered print throughout the venue from the bar’s logo, a hound dog wearing a houndstooth fedora, to the checkered wallpaper in the Trophy Room. The Southern-inspired venue is peppered with eclectic design elements from deer-antler chandeliers to a rawhide-inspired bar top, and features seating options from tufted banquettes to high-top tables. The raucous party-centric saloon offers a Southern-influenced American menu with signature dishes such as pulled pork sandwich with five-hour braised pork shoulder with a Memphis-style dry rub and house Maker’s Mark BBQ sauce; a Southern fried chicken sandwich, with buttermilk-soaked chicken breast, signature seasonings, jalapenos, coleslaw and chipotle ranch; and a Big Al burger, with two beef patties, applewood-smoked bacon, crumbled blue cheese, crispy onions and Buffalo sauce. The bar hosts County Music nights Thursday and Sunday with Brian Berman, Chicago’s Top Country Music DJ. Theater Wit offers the best small theater in Chicago, in addition to our own award-winning work, we host some of the most exciting companies in our three performance facility. Every year there are over 570 performances of nearly 60 different productions presented by a dozen of Chicago's brightest lights on the storefront scene.

Based in Chicago, Illinois, Shattered Globe Theatre is a small, not-for-profit whose mission is to present an eclectic mix of plays and intimate character driven selections which speak to the universal aspect of what it means to be a part of the human experience.

The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival (Chicago SketchFest) debuted in January, 2002 and lasted six weeks. Producer Brian Posen had originally intended to put up an original musical in that slot, but when the project fell through, he still wanted to keep his commitment to the Theatre Building Chicago. He called a few friends in the sketch community, and was met with overwhelming response. Over thirty Chicago sketch comedy groups participated in the first year, on very little notice. Subsequent SketchFest's were shorter in duration; now the festival runs over two weekends. Chicago SketchFest is the largest sketch comedy festival in the nation. The 2009 SketchFest featured more than 800 performers, representing over 100 groups, who performed over 120 shows. While the majority of Chicago SketchFest performers are from Chicago (which, after all, is the sketch comedy capital of America), troupes from Boston, L.A., New York, Portland, Seattle, Milwaukee, Austin, and Denver have also performed at Chicago SketchFest. In 2005, the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival went international for the first time, hosting groups from Toronto and Vancouver. Unlike its cousin improv, sketch comedy consists of scripted short, satirical scenes. Strong writing is an extremely important element in sketch comedy. For two weeks, the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival turns Stage 773 into a sketch comedy oasis, renting out the entire building and featuring simultaneous performances in all three theatres. Chicago SketchFest features panels of sketch comedy experts each year who educate and entertain participants and the public with stories and advice. Participants have included Second City 's Sheldon Patinkin, Anne Libera and Kelly Leonard, Late Night with Conan O'Brian writer Kevin Dorff, Groudlings founder Gary Austin, Mick Napier of the Annoyance, Saturday Night Live 's Tim Kazurinsky, Reno 911!'s Carlos Alazraqui and Cedric Yarbrough, The Comic Toolbox author John Vorhaus and Charna Halpern of ImprovOlympic. Chicago SketchFest experiments with sketch comedy under pressure. While most sketch shows take months of writing and rehearsing, the Chicago SketchFest tests its participants with OctaSketch: The Eight Hour Project . Octa-Sketch teams up performers from different sketch groups - and different cities – and sets them up with a seasoned sketch comedy director. Each group is given eight hours to create a brand-new 30 minute sketch show to be performed that evening. Every year Chicago SketchFest attendance has significantly increased, with over 10,000 audience members enjoying the performances at the 2005 event. As the word gets out further each year, we look forward to continuing our audience growth as we entertain Chicagoans during the harsh Chicago winter.

Dance Chicago is a dance community festival and is held each fall at various major dance venues, including Stage 773, Mandel Hall and the Athenaeum Theatre. Since 1995, the festival has brought diverse elements of Chicago's dance community together to remove barriers that slow the growth of the art form. The only festival of it's kind using dynamic showcasing, it features over 300 Chicago area companies and independent choreographers. Dance Chicago 2012 marks the 18th season. Most companies and choreographers in the Chicago dance community have appeared in the festival. The Dance Chicago Center, located at Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 North Southport, is open for rehearsals and classes to all artists in dance, theatre, comedy, improv, music, and performance. Included are special arrangements for Dance Chicago choreographers.

Our Mission The Athenaeum Theatre promotes the arts, arts education and adds to it's century old heritage by sharing the various public spaces of the historic Athenaeum Theatre building. We offer performing, rehearsal, reception and office spaces to arts and educational organizations at affordable, below market rates. We cultivate relationships with arts organizations and through outreach to the local community of artists and arts administrators to interact, share ideas and offer mutual support. We serve as a cultural resource and a forum for new and established arts groups and audiences both in the Lakeview neighborhood and the greater Chicago area. A unique performance complex, the Athenaeum Theatre is located at 2936 North Southport Avenue between Wellington and Oakdale in Chicago in the Lakeview neighborhood north of the Loop. The theatre opened in 1911 as part of the large campus of the St. Alphonsus Parish, and has a continuous history dedicated to serving the arts community. The Athenaeum Theatre has a main stage theatre which seats 984 people and also has three studio theatres seating 67, 81 and 89 people. On the main floor there is a spacious lobby and a food and drink concession in the Curtain Call Club. The theatre is convenient to public transportation and to the many restaurants, shops and cultural groups in the vibrant Lakeview neighborhood. There are two metered parking lots, one at the corner of Oakdale and Southport and the other on Oakdale just behind the theatre building. Street parking is also available. It is our mission to make affordable performance and office space available to to any size non-profit organization, with theatres ranging in size from 67 to 984 seats and office space ranging from a desk in a shared space up to full office suites.
