The Santa Cruz Greek Festival is Santa Cruz's longest running festival. We're celebrating our 34th year of serving authentic Greek cuisine, spirits, music and dancing. Over the years, the festival has grown from a humble festival in the back of the church to a huge block party, where approximately 15,000 people attend over three days! We are very honored to have such devoted fans who come back year after year not only for the food (although it is fabulous!), but for the "filoxenia" or hospitality shown to everyone. Please join us for live bouzouki music, dancing, authentic food and desserts, and perhaps a little taste of ouzo or restina? Eat Like A Greek for a day!

Each year, The Diversity Center reaches approximately 10,000 individuals that we serve directly through our onsite programs, outreach and education events, our work with school-based Gay/Straight Alliances, and our Triangle Speakers program. We fulfill our mission to enhance the lives and promote fairness for LGBTQ+ people by: > Developing LGBTQ+ youth leaders in local middle and high schools, who help teach acceptance and promote positive LGBTQ+ messages to their peers > Creating connections, building community, and reducing isolation among LGBTQ+ seniors, veterans, youth, and the Latinx community > Teaching acceptance and providing support for transgender individuals > Educating the community at-large about key legislative issues that impact LGBTQ+ rights and equality The Diversity Center is the only fully staffed LGBTQ+ Community Center on the Central Coast of California, and while our services are directed at Santa Cruz County residents, we have people from all over Northern California — from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo — who benefit from our services and attend our events. Walnut Commons will consist of 19 condominium units in a three-story LEED compatible building with underground parking and storage. In addition to our privately-owned space, we will share a roof garden, community space on the ground floor, and other shared amenities. We are creating an intentional neighborhood under one roof. Residents commit to build and sustain community through formal and informal gatherings and planned community dinners.

The BirchBark Foundation offers financial grants and education to animal owners who are unable to cover costs of medical care when their animals are facing catastrophic, life-threatening or life-compromising illness. Conjure-Craft is a partnership between Susan Diamond- respected psychic, root-worker, shamanic witch, astrologer, and owner of the Serpent's Kiss Magick Shop and Orion Foxwood- multi-published and internationally noted author, elder in traditional witchcraft, faery seer and root-worker. Together, and with specially gifted guests, they offer workshops, rituals, and hands-on training in Conjure, Witchcraft, Shamanism & Faery. The emphasis is immersion experiences and learning intensives.
Motion Pacific is a 501(c)3 charitable arts organization. Motion Pacific offers over 1500 dance classes a year to students from two-years-old. The program is strong and supports over 150 youth/teen students per semester as well as a consistent population of adults that take classes regularly. Motion Pacific hosts over 20 dance workshops throughout the year, offering opportunities for local dancers to learn from local, regional, national and international artists. Motion Pacific strives to provide a context in which the presentation of dance can thrive at all levels. In order to support dance at its various stages we have initiated several programs in addition to our bi-annual performance seasons: the emerging choreographer “incubator project,” now in its third year, provides resources and mentorship for early career artists to present in a professional environment and gain valuable tools and experience. Our newest addition is the “max10” program, an uncurated presentation of short works presented in a low-tech environment. These events are designed to encourage feedback and discussion between artists, audiences and peers.
Santa Cruz County FREE feral cat spay/neuter program; barn cat program; trap-neuter-return; cat/kitten adoptions; focus is on reducing euthanasia of cats in the shelter and enhancing community health through trap-neuter-return programs and access to low-cost feral cat spay/neuter program and education and advocacy in the community. Project Purr believes: Feral/community cats have a right to live. Trap-Neuter-Return is the most compassionate, and the only humane and effective way to reduce the population of feral cats. Spay/neuter is the single most important thing we all can do to help the animals. There are not enough homes for all the animals in Santa Cruz County - and you can never stem the tide of homeless animals if you ignore the least understood and in the greatest danger - feral cats and kittens!
Conveniently located in beautiful downtown Santa Cruz, California, the Academy of Arcana brings it all together in one place. The Academy houses Morning Glory & Oberon Zell's enormous library of myth, magick, science, history, sci-fi, fantasy and lore; and their vast museum collection of more than 360 Goddess figurines, magickal tools and artifacts, Books of Shadows, devotional items, altar setups, theatrical costumes and regalia, seasonal decorations, etc. The largest area of the Academy is "The Goddess Curiosa" a non-denominational Goddess Temple and meeting/workshop/class space, exhibiting Morning Glory Zell's collection of over 360 Goddess votive figurines from around the world and throughout history. Other cabinets and cases contain our large collections of magickal tools, hand-written Books of Shadows, devotional items, altar setups, posters, crafts supplies, and books on myth, magick, and Mysterie. Comfortable chairs and cushions are in abundance. The Temple space is also available as a venue for other groups to rent for meetings and gatherings. Another area of interest at the Academy is "The Illuminarium," the main reading and research Library providing exclusive access for Academy members only, consisting of thousands of books, Pagan publications and archives, and over 1,000 movie DVDs and music CDs. A large 46' TV screen is available for movie nights. The reading Library also includes a "Museum of Mysterie" for the other collections: arcane artifacts, dragons and dinosaurs, skulls and skeletons, fossils, natural history, mythical/legendary creatures, theatrical costumes and magickal regalia, seasonal decorations, prehistoric animal models, science fiction models, toys and action figures (especially Star Trek, Star Wars, Jules Verne, da Vinci, movies, etc.). And in front we have a little museum gift store ("Curiosities") offering magickal books, figurines, jewelry, and crafts made by various artists, authors, and musicians who will be available for house concerts, book-signings and "meet the artist" events. We'll also have quite a selection of curios and curiosities for sale from the Oberon and Morning Glory Zell collections. We have a craft table in the window where some of our crafters work in view of passers-by.
The Morning Glory Zell Memorial Foundation was established to provide funding for Morning Glory's collection of over 350 votive Goddess figures. The collection is currently housed in the Goddess Temple at the Academy of Arcana at 428A Front Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060
The Love Foundation is a network of students, musicians and artists who together organize a variety of innovative events. The goal behind these events is fundraising money for water development projects and spreading the universal idea of LOVE. These events can have manifold looks: they can be parties, art exhibitions or any other kind of activity that combines creativity with fun for everyone whilst doing something good for the world. This non-profit Foundation has been created by two students from Maastricht University, and is actively branching out from Maastricht to the areas of Berlin and Santa Cruz. All money generated by the LOVE Foundation is donated to the German social entrepreneurship Viva con Agua, which, in close cooperation with the German NGO Welthungerhilfe, implements projects in uprising countries such as India or Burkina Faso. These projects are designed for giving access to clean drinking water and a good sanitation system, in addition to education about everyday hygiene when using these installations. The funds raised by the LOVE Foundation contribute directly to achieving these goals.
What makes WNA successful? First, the individual person and how they present their business, support their fellow members and participate is critical. Members must attend the meetings, should provide the right marketing tools and education so the other members understand how to speak to their products, programs or services and lastly, should look for opportunities for each other. Second, a desire to share ideas in all facets of our business, a willingness to speak to wins/losses's and the courage to speak up when you are struggling will allow the entire group to easily grow together personally and professionally. Lastly, having an extreme level of honesty, integrity and trust is absolutely required. We are sharing a lot of personal information amongst the group and we must feel we can trust that our "sharing" is kept confidential and not shared with anyone, especially in the form of gossip.
A warm and welcoming community in the heart of Santa Cruz. The Greek Orthodox Church is noted for its beautiful iconography. Every September the community hosts a Greek Food Festival on the streets outside the church. In the spring the parish hosts a Greek Food Faire.
Long-time resident and business owner Shannon Kathleen Collins ardently supported Walnut Avenue Family & Women's Center and her legacy lives on through the Shannon Collins Memorial Garden. The goal of the garden is to celebrate the legacy of Shannon Collins and promote her ideals of education, community, and youth and women’s empowerment. We envision working with longtime sponsor of the Garden, Lelo, and many other supporters in the Santa Cruz community to build a multi-functional space that will fulfill the mission of the Center through the space and potential related programming, while at the same time raise community engagement with the Center both physically and financially. Stage 1 of the project will focus on the funding development and physical construction of the Garden over 18 months, while Stage 2 will focus on working with the Center’s Board and staff to deepen linkages between Center programming and the Garden. The Garden will include various features fulfilling different functions. It will include community garden plots that will be available to both Center participants – helping to fulfill nutrition needs for participating families – as well as community members for a fee; a tranquility/reflection garden with benches, a water feature, and a memorial plaque to Shannon Collins; a small amphitheater/open air contained space suitable for public events, talks, and Center programming activities; a children’s garden with interactive garden features; a brick or tile patio where bricks/tiles will honor supporters of the Garden and the Center; and paths throughout for wandering and reflecting.
