The Aesthetic Union began as a desire for collaboration. Printing has long been the process where designer and artist come together to duplicate their work. But printmaking is a craft that requires years of dedication to master. When an artist and designer collaborate with a Master Printer, a new type of artwork is created. The image is altered from the process. From the artist’s hand, to printing plates, to the press, and then finally, the pressman’s eye, the final product is an entirely different specimen. It’s been transformed through the alchemical processes of a craft that’s been around for centuries. Our goal is not only to show people the process, but educate; printing is essential to the form that they hold in their hands. From custom-designed business cards, limited edition posters, packaging, etc, we love collaborating with people who have amazing ideas or designs. The union in Aesthetic Union is about our relationship with you. You are who we are printing and designing for. The Aesthetic Union is you and I.
Design PLUS Technology? Yeah, turns out they aren't mutually exclusive. Without one, the other just isn't very effective. Great design is only great if it's functional. Technology is only useful if it can be understood. One feeds the other, therefore we embrace them both. The whole point of working with technology is to create something that feels human. Until it evolves into something that's neither design nor technology, but a natural extension of our lives. That's the thinking that built our business. We love the plus. Damien Alvarez is native San Franciscan who has been actively working in the graphic design industry since 2006. In January of 2007 he graduated with a double major in Industrial Arts -Visual Communications/Design & Spanish Language from San Francisco State University. He has experience designing for many different areas ranging from the corporate and non-profit sector, to the nightlife scene. His projects include logo designs and branding, and producing complex, print-based, page layout projects. He is familiar with the entire Adobe Creative suite and specializes in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Dreamweaver. He is currently expanding his skill set by attending classes in order to receive a Web Design & Development certification through SF State’s College of Extended Learning Multimedia Studies program. Damien became interested in graphic design when he was organizing educational events for youth while working at a non-profit in Marin. He enjoyed playing with the layout of various images, and the integration of typography to create advertisements for imaginary events. He describes his style as natural, organic design, pulling inspiration from architecture, nature, and the free flowing forms of the performing arts.

The world of Audio revolves around sound, and it is a danceclub that was created by sound fanatics. The layout of the nightclub, placement of the speakers, design of the 7 layered dance floor, and the Funktion One sound system were carefully crafted to create a revolutionary auditory experience. Combining retro décor with cutting edge music, Audio never sports a dress code and is an intimate venue to hear world class DJ’s without the pretension. With great sound comes great dancing, and our Nightclub was designed with a centrally located, spring loaded dance floor that keeps the faithful on their feet. The 1600 LED wall is custom programmed to visualize the music, and the thousands of square feet of tufted panels, drapes and acoustic paneling on the ceiling, absorb sound reverberation to create crystal clear mids and high, and punchy base. The result is a night club where the center of the dance floor sounds like a recording studio...just much louder. The two fully loaded brass-and-mirror cocktail bars surround each side of the dance floor making it always easy to get a drink. Our innovative custom lighting incorporates thousands of LEDs, every single one of which can change into any color. 3D video projection, dancers, and disco balls round out the experience. Audio is a mecca for amazing DJ talent, focusing on underground, deep house, techno, EDM and nu-disco music. Audio is available for both private and corporate events and welcomes all inquiries. We offer services ranging from venue rentals to full service event production and planning. Our venue is 3500 SF with an upstairs capacity of 400, while our downstairs sister restaurant, Bergerac, has a capacity of 250 people.
