Descanso: Take a break. Relax. On the tiny Caribbean island of Tobago, while watching an interisland soccer game during Carnival, I heard a ref yell, “Descanso!” right after he blew the whistle for half time. Both teams headed to the sideline, had some beers together and relaxed for a bit. The game resumed after a long intermission and it did not matter who won but instead, it was about being together and enjoying the company. It’s both our name and a way of being. Inspired by descanso, my late wife, Heidi and I dreamed up a design and menu that reflects our travels and life together. Our wanderings around the world took us through many magical places—the Caribbean, Central and South America and all over Mexico. The flavors of these places stuck with us in our cooking, just as their cultures remained with us in our way of life. Inspired by a friend’s championship BBQ philosophy and recipes, we have infused these flavors into a simply delicious concept of slow-cooked meats and vegetables that represent the flavors of the life we so enjoyed. It just may be the best thing you’ve ever put in your mouth! So please, take in the flavors we have to offer on our menu. And most importantly: Descanso!
Simply Greek was born in 2002. It all stemmed from a love of my homeland, and of course, a love for great food in general. After moving to the Bay Area in 1989 and not being able to find a single Gyro like those I grew up tasting, I realized there was a need. Growing up, my father instilled in me a drive for hard work and my mother stressed the importance of family and taught me all the secrets of a Greek kitchen. After almost 20 years in corporate America, my desire to open up my little Greek Steki (simply Greek for "hang out") finally came to fruition. With encouragement from family and friends...the rest is history. Simply Greek is now located in Oakland, Pleasanton, and Berkeley. SG 1, SG2 and SG3 (as the eateries are fondly referred to by many "just-like-family" customers) is opened for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday, serving Greek fast food. These Greek casual eateries feature authentic dishes like ones from Yia Yia's house. Simply Greek offers the highest quality Greek cuisine at reasonable prices and a taste of the little cafes of Greece. Our signature dish is the gyro ~ spit roasted lamb in a fluffy pita with homemade tzatziki made with traditional, thick Greek yogurt...garlicky perfection just as though you were on the streets of Athens sitting at the Platia enjoying a mainstay of the Greek culture. Other favorites are Chicken Souvlakia ~ perfectly seasoned grilled chicken breast skewered with green bell peppers and onions and served either in a pita or over pilafi or fries. Round out your taste of Greece with a simply delectable Baklava ~ walnut, phyllo and honey heaven or Yiaourti me Meli ~ a wonderful combination of tangy Greek yogurt, sweet Greek honey, and the slight bitterness of walnuts. Come down for a savory lunch or dinner and call us if you have a special function that would be extra special with tasty Greek fare, birthdays, baby showers, corporate meetings...we can help make your event simply memorable. Simply Delicious. Simply Greek. Also serving you at: SG2 Simply Greek Pleasanton: 4220C Rosewood Drive 925.463.8801
Baja was started in 1992 by owner/executive chef Dr. Jeff Mogalian. Having grown up in Southern California and surfing and eating in Baja California, Dr. Jeff fell in love with Coastal Mexican cuisine. Moving to Northern California it was hard to find coastal Mexican and impossible to find the beloved Fish Tacos. So what's a DeadHead/surfer/ dentist/ chef supposed to do? Open the freshest, tastiest most authentic Baja-style Mexican restaurant on Piedmont Ave and 20 years later continue the tradition with award winning food. We, at Baja, believe in a simple formula; serve fresh, innovative, delicious healthy food prepared daily. Create a fun and clean environment that our customers enjoy. Honor our staff in keeping a respectable living wage and fun environment to work in. Have in impact on important environment and social concerns.

Located in the beautiful Piedmont district of Oakland, Ba-Bite is a purveyor of fine Middle Eastern cuisine serving the neighborhood. Ba-Bite comes from the Hebrew word babait, בבית, which means “in the home,” or “at home.” Our goal is to make delicious food like you would get at home. Our starting points are our own homes—here in Oakland, where the produce is bountiful and fresh and our favorite meal is a composed salad; in Mica’s childhood home in the Middle East, where hummus is a staple; and in Robert’s childhood home in Central Oregon, where Deschutes Brewery is the go-to for holiday lunch. As Ba-Bite settles in, the menu will reflect homey food from around the globe inspired by our favorites, by our staff, and by our community. The menu will change frequently, and we aspire to make Ba-Bite a little home away from home for all. However you say home—be it في المنزل, در خانه, evde, u siebie w domu, or any other variation—we hope to fill your belly in a way that would make your grandmother proud. We source locally, organic, and sustainably.
