The population of the planet Earth is approximately 6.93 billion people at present, and some 6.3 billion of them view football as their sport of choice. Football and local pubs go hand in hand the world over, and the Three Lions is no exception. There is nothing quite like “heading down to your local for a pint of fine ale, some comforting food and friendship, and a bit of footy on the telly.” Pubs around the world are known for their friendly confines, their freedom from anxiety, their variety, eccentricity, and individuality. Football pubs act as havens from everyday life, where anyone can be certain to be welcome, and can enjoy the company of the other patrons. To a great extent, we have the Brits to thank for this unique and amazing gift to society, as pubs have always been part of the heartbeat of their culture. London alone has over 5500 pubs, each with its own soul and character. No matter what your lot in life, the pub is a home away from home, a place for friendship and camaraderie, and oft times a place for passion! The Three Lions, modeled after some of the finest London pubs, brings this ethic to historic Colfax Avenue in Denver. Although you are always welcome to request any sporting event on one of the many constantly active screens at the Three Lions, it is truly meant to be a football pub. Steeped in the history of the game, which in its earliest forms dates back thousands of years, this pub is alight with memorabilia. Three Lions combines the history of the sport with the latest in modern technology, to bring you the best possible viewing experience, whether you are a knowledgeable fan or just finding out about “the beautiful game.” Indeed, the British helped shape modern football into the game that it has become today, combining the many loose forms of the game under one basic set of rules. In fact, the British were the first to create international competitions and governing bodies, making them largely responsible for the pinnacle sporting event on earth, the World Cup, which occurs every four years (2014, in Brazil is the next one). The Three Lions is our way of saying “thank you” to our British friends for bringing us the pub-football culture, and the world’s game. At the same time, we also extend an open invitation to the population of Denver and football fans of the game played throughout the world, to join us in the thrills associated with football at its various levels and in its various geographic regions. A trip to the Three Lions will not only satiate your appetite for a true London Pub, without having to buy an expensive plane ticket and having to take time off work, but you may just as well find that the experience is comparable to that of pub-goers in other football capitals such as Madrid, Buenos Aires, Milan, Munich, Rio de Janeiro, or whatever football capital exists on Earth. When you visit Three Lions, you will find that top-notch pub menu items, timely and friendly service, and a terrific footballer’s atmosphere are the daily fare here. So, no matter which team(s) you support, kick back, relax, and enjoy! Cheers!

Determined to bring the best sausage sandwich to Denver, three friends with a passion for charcuterie and family roots in the restaurant business opened The Uber Sausage in a neighborhood fondly referred to as the gourmet ghetto – East Colfax. Meet Alex, Brad and Henry. With a shoestring budget of just $40,000, we focused on the food. We began by searching for a superior artisan sausage made with naturally raised meats, and never any nitrates or other artificial preservatives. We prepared house-made condiment recipes and sought out other ingredients that would make a locavore happy. We hunted for the best artisan bakery in the city. With the right elements in place, we developed a menu that pleased our palate and fulfilled our vision for creating and serving the very best sausage sandwiches in Denver. With little left over for slick marketing or designer décor, the restaurant took on a spare, urban feel. This made our sausage sandwiches stand out even more than we had planned, which was just fine with us. After months of hard work, we finally opened the doors to The Uber Sausage in July 2011. We realized quickly that we had something folks liked -- alot. That’s when we invited Marco to join us. With a few decades in the restaurant business, he had insight and experience we didn’t. He also believed in our original culinary vision and renewed our collective commitment to the sausage itself. On our 15-month anniversary we stopped outsourcing our sausages and began making our own artisan sausages. That’s when Uber Sausage took on a whole new meaning.
Straight from the bustling streets of Japan to Denver, via two entrepreneurs dream realized, is a Baum, but not just any Baum, a Baum cake. What is a Baum cake you might ask? Well I am glad you did, because the answer is, a layered rotisserie cake unique to the United States, born in Germany, and brought over to Japan to create a passion for all things, Baum. The cake is created in our imported oven, then cooled and glazed with Callebaut milk or white chocolate, Cointreau, hazelnuts; choose your fancy. Then when sliced, the Baum cake reveals concentric circles, much like the rings of a tree. The Japanese even call it the “tree of life” and we agree — if we could subsist on Baum cake alone, that would truly be living! It is the first and only one of a kind to be found without having it shipped from across the pond, the Pacific pond to be exact. Its unique rings, which spawns from spits in the “mouth of the dragon” (not to be taken literally), are poured one layer at a time, by skilled bakers trained in Japan who are now back in Denver to share their culinary experience with those who are willing to nourish their mind, soul and spirit with this Euro Asian delight. This unique cake will titillate the senses while delivering a Zen feeling throughout the body with every bite. The cake is more than just an Euro Asian delight and scrumptious desert, the rings it bears represents tradition, love and prosperity, and who doesn’t need one of those at one time or another ? So come on down and watch our master baum bakers work the oven, 6 foot tall and 5 foot wide, that is redder than the fire that bakes the cakes. You are guaranteed an Eastern experience in the comfort of Glaze , The Baum Cake Shoppe. We open in November at 1160 Madison Street. More to come so check back often! - The Glaze Baum Cake Chiefs
