WashU China Care focuses on fundraising for medical surgeries for disadvantaged Chinese orphans in China as well as raising awareness about the issues they face. We also have two mentorship programs for local adopted Chinese children, Dumplings Playgroup and Big Sister, Little Sister Program, which allow adoptees to learn about Chinese culture as well as build friendships with other adoptees and college-age mentors. In the summer, a group of volunteers travel to Beijing to volunteer in the China Care Home, a healing home that provides care and nurture to orphans before and after surgery.

The MissionShift Institute (MSI) of Concordia Seminary (CSL) is not a building, but a network of local leaders brought together around a proven curriculum to equip Christians how to build and lead cultural-crossing ministries. MSI enhances CSL students’ residential field education through experiential and contextual training. It serves participating congregations with valuable training for their members in the theory and practice of starting and leading local, cross-cultural ministries. MSI’s unreached people group project benefits the city of St. Louis by creating blueprints for urban ministry that area churches can act on.
