Centered in the bustling innovation epicenter of Cambridge, Massachusetts, our studio acts as a catalyst and convener of creative forces pushing the edges of what’s next, in greater Boston and beyond. Grounded in a holistic approach, we have usurped corporate R&D by using venture design to identify, create, and launch products, brands, services, spaces, and experiences that create new opportunities for growth. This has led to new businesses and brands for our corporate partners like MassMutual’s Society of Grownups, groundbreaking citizen-centered digital platforms for USCIS and the new pilot for Boston.gov, and disruptive start ups like PillPack and Transatomic. Conveniently located between Harvard and MIT, a renowned innovation hub, our studio is continuously experimenting with how to bring the best entrepreneurial, academic and creative minds together to tackle large, complex challenges, as in the Food + Future coLAB with Target, or our partnerships with the Berklee School of Music, MIT Media Lab and the Harvard iLab. We’re powered by a unique blend of geeks, technologists, craftsman, artists, brand strategists, business designers, design fiction creators, psychologists, design researchers, and digital alchemists—all unified by a shared spirit and purpose: to design for disruptive impact. Let’s invent the future together!

Artist Statement: My paintings and installations explore the viscous ooze at the creation and termination of life - a reference to the flux of human experience. Through their layered, tactile qualities, opulence (globby paint, flowers), and decadence (dirt, decaying plant materials), my works strive to evoke a visceral response within the viewer.

Noche Latina Dance Company

Noche Latina Dance Company is a Salsa Dance Company based in the greater Boston area. We share a passion for dancing and teaching salsa and strive to create a fun environment where dancers of diverse backgrounds can celebrate the joy of dance together, creating cultural harmony on the dance floor. This group is intended for you - students and supporters to meet and share information and allows us to keep you informed of upcoming events and performances. * * * * * SALSA DANCING ORIGINS * * * * * Salsa movements originate from the Cuban Son dancing of the 1920s, and more specifically through the beat of Son Montuno with strong influences from the dance of Danzon, Mambo, Guaguanco and other Afro-Cuban folkloric dancing. Today's Salsa dancing is a rich blend of Latin-American and Western influences. Other dance styles that have influenced today's Salsa include Western and Ballroom dancing. Salsa traces a 90-year history in which there are numerous evolutionary paths, sometimes split due to political and social influences. As a result, today there are various distinct styles of Salsa dancing, namely Cuban ("Casino"), New York Style ("Mambo on 2"), Los Angeles Style ("On 1"), Colombian Salsa ("Cali-Style") and Miami-Style Salsa. Salsa is typically a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms, pole dancing (suelta) and Rueda de Casino, where groups of couples exchange partners in a circle. Salsa can be improvised or performed with a set routine, choreography and freestyle. * * * * * BASIC MOVEMENTS * * * * * There are a few basic steps of Salsa. The most common is the three weight changes (or steps) in each four-beat measure. The beat on which one does not step might contain a tap or kick, or weight transfer may simply continue with the actual step not occurring until the next beat. The option chosen depends upon individual choice and upon the specific style being danced. One of the steps is called a "break," which involves a change in direction. Different styles of Salsa are often differentiated by the timing of the break step (On Beat "Downbreak on 1" or Off Beat "Up beat on 2"). After 6 weight changes in 8 beats, the basic step cycle is complete. While dancing, the basic step can be modified significantly as part of the improvisation and stylings of the people dancing. In many styles of Salsa dancing, as a dancer changes weight by stepping, the upper body remains level and nearly unaffected by the weight changes. Caught in the middle are the hips which end up moving quite a bit —- famously known as the "Cuban hip movement." Perhaps ironically, the Cuban Casino style of Salsa dancing actually has significant amounts of movement above the waist, with up-and-down shoulder movements and shifting of the ribcage. The arms are used by the "lead" dancer, to communicate or signal the "follower," either in "open " or "closed" position. The open position requires the two dancers to hold one or both hands, especially for moves that involve turns, putting arms behind the back, or moving around each other, to name a few examples. In the closed position, the leader puts the right hand on the follower's back, while the follower puts the left hand on the leader's shoulder. In some North American styles, the dancers remain in a slot or line(switching places), while in some Latin American styles the dancers circle around each other sometimes in 3 points. Additionally, in the original Latin America form, the forward/backward motion of Salsa is done in diagonal or sideways with the 3-step weight change intact.

The Dinner Detective is the largest, award-winning, interactive comedic murder mystery dinner show in the United States. We are now running public and private shows in cities across the country every week. Our immensely popular shows are set in the present day. Unlike other murder mystery dinner shows, here you will find no cheesy costumes, no recited campy dialogue and no hokey song and dance. Our performers are dressed just like everyone else, leaving all of the guests to suspect who is a part of the show and who is not. In many instances, guests are seated with the performers and don't even realize it until they die...the performers, that is! Our Detectives proceed to interrogate everyone and find clues as more people die. At the end of the night, prizes are awarded to the Top Sleuth who solves the crime.
