The Snow King Sports and Events Center (formerly the Snow King Center) houses Jackson's only indoor ice rink, houses Jackson Youth Hockey, Jackson Hole Figure Skating Club, Grand Teton Figure Skating Academy, the Jackson Hole Moose hockey team, the Jackson Women's Hockey team, the Jackson Adult Recreational Hockey League, open public skating, stick & puck sessions, and many other user groups and skating opportunities. In addition to being an ice rink from mid-October through March, the Snow King Sports and Events Center is Jackson's largest indoor space for hosting concert events, sporting events, conventions, trade shows, arts & crafts bazaars, other indoor sports, and just about anything else that a 40,000 square foot space can be used for. The new ice rink operator, Center Management, Inc., a Wyoming Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation that was established with the primary goals of operating the ice rink on a break-even basis, assisting the Town of Jackson in effectuating deferred maintenance and repairs to restore the ice rink to it's newly constructed state, and insure that Jackson and Teton County, Wyoming will continue to have a top-notch ice skating facility to use and enjoy for many years to come. We will be working to reinvigorate the ice rink with some updated programming in hopes of attracting new users to the ice rink who have yet to revel in the joys of skating and playing hockey, and we need the help of our dedicated users to spread the word and bring your friends! With a mix of events, interest groups and programming, we provide the connection to a community of people who can help take your work to the next level.
Mike Covell, Jason Fritts, and Macey Mott are setting out on a long-held dream to create a flexible rehearsal, performance and events space to serve the Jackson Hole community. That dream is taking shape as Convergence. Mike (a musician and sound designer), Jason (a musician, teacher, and band leader), and Macey (a theater and artistic director, producer, designer, and actor) all have long histories in Jackson's performing arts community and more than 60 years of combined experience creating and managing performance art. As Jackson continues to grow, existing venues are bursting at the seams. Small theater, music, and dance groups in our area can't afford to rent the space. We hope to provide an affordable alternative for rehearsal, performance, and event space the artistic community can take advantage of. Convergence will make its home on North Cache Street in Jackson. The large open space will provide flexible options for a wide variety of needs. Retractable walls can be closed to create smaller rehearsal or classroom spaces or open up to a large performance or event space. A portable riser system will create risers or stages anywhere in the space. While a durable floor will be perfect from everything from a dance floor, performance seating, or concert. Convergence will give musicians and theater groups a place to rehearse, bands to perform, artists to offer classes, and the public to host events of all kinds. The possibilities are endless. Funds generated through this campaign will go towards start-up costs. We are currently working with the Town of Jackson & Teton County to do a change of use for the space and once that process is complete, there will be some limited construction to get the space ready for you to use. Funds will also be used for rental costs during the construction phase, as well as equipment including retractable walls, chairs, computer equipment and software, and electronics. We hope to be running in the black within three years of opening. We plan on charging hourly rates for rehearsal spaces, for events and performances in the space, and also sell tickets for Convergence sponsored events such as concerts, dance hall nights, and holiday events.
