The Thigh Bone’s Connected to the…Hip Bone…. Jason Kirmse and Cyrick (Cy) Hia met while managing properties in the Fillmore neighborhood of San Francisco. They bonded over their mutual passion for all things culinary and dared each other to make the leap and become restaurateurs. In 2010 they opened a cozy joint in the Fillmore neighborhood, Fat Angel, next door to where Michael Mina general manager and operations director for Mina Group, Ryan Cole resided. Ryan became a regular at Fat Angel after work and Jason, Cy and Ryan all took a liking to one another. They wondered out loud if the magic of Fat Angel could be recreated a second time – only this time with an expanded menu and service in another quintessential San Francisco neighborhood, Russian Hill. This is where Jason Halverson and Tai Ricci come in. Halverson, as he’s affectionately referred to, was the chef de cuisine at Michael Mina and Tai, server extraordinaire from SPQR and formerly Michael Mina, (and don’t take our word as to how good she is – SF Eater named her one of the best servers in San Francisco 2012!) both jumped at the opportunity to become part of something special that Jason, Cy and Ryan were dreaming up. Husband and wife team Lori Baker and Jeff Banker opened the doors to their restaurant on December 1, 2009. Located in an old apothecary in the residential Pacific Heights neighborhood, Baker and Banker serves up a convivial ambiance for its fresh farm-to-table New American cuisine. Caramel colored walls and leather banquettes summon diners to relax and savor multifaceted dishes from Chef Jeff Banker. Pastry Chef Lori Baker turns out hand crafted breads and sophisticated versions of classic American desserts. Between 15 to 20 wines are available by the glass, and the list favors food-friendly naturally produced wines from sustainably grown grapes.

Although we started out as "Thai House Express" for generations, we recently changed the name to "House of Thai" and will continue to stay true to our commitment to you.
History: Back in Hawaii in the early 80's The Kealoha uncles would race Hobie Cats, they threw parties "pop ups" to pay for their supplies. They would go to the beach and throw a party, fire up the grill, ice down the beer, and get a band to play. They would charge a modest price with the intention to make enough money to allow them to do what they loved. They realized they needed a name for their 'organization' and the brothers who lived on Liholiho street decided to name it Liholiho Yacht Club. This is how the modern day LYC was born. We loved the name and the idea: to throw a party to allow you to keep doing what you love. Grind - Talk Story - Get Jag About the owners: Chef Ravi was born and raised on Oahu in Hawaii. He moved to San Francisco in 1998 to attend The California Culinary Academy. He has worked in many kitchens around the Bay Area and beyond including an 8 year stint at Boulevard working closely with Chef Nancy Oakes where he went on to open Prospect as the executive chef. He left restaurants all together in 2011 after his son Makoa was born. The pop-up: "Liholiho Yacht Club" was born in 2012 as a means to create delicious heritage driven food while still supporting his family and working towards his lifelong dream of having his own restaurant. In 2014 Ravi joined forces with Jeff Hanak and Allyson Jossel, owners of Nopa and Nopalito and long time friends. Both Hanak and Jossel are native to SF and bring a solid and local foundation to the LYC team. Together they strives to create a comfortable environment well balanced and enjoyable. Focusing on Kapur's heritage driven food and Jeff and Allyson's keen attention to hospitality.
