Very few brewpubs offer beer from other breweries, but in his quest to open the ultimate beer emporium, Steve Wolff has gone out of his way to bring out the most interesting beers, offering 24 taps, a third of which are house brewed. With the addition of a new mashtun and a creative new brewmaster we are ramping up production with new styles and reformulations of old Pacific Coast Brewing Company favorites. The elaborate stained glass window, which adorns the store front, along with the ornate bar and beer cooler, once graced the interior of the historic Cox Saloon, formerly located not far from their present day home in Old Oakland. These pieces have been incorporated into the pub that features a hardwood floor, brick wall, antiques and a heated beer garden adorned with greenery growing up its redwood trellis. A satellite dish with multiple television screens and a CD jukebox have added a contemporary accent to the traditional pub atmosphere.
In 1948, the first In-N-Out Burger was founded by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park. In that era, it was common to see carhops serving customers in their cars. Harry had the unique idea of a drive-thru hamburger stand where customers could order through a two-way speaker box. His idea caught on and California's first drive-thru hamburger stand was born. In-N-Out Burger has been serving the highest quality burgers, fries and shakes ever since.
A century ago, the Oakland Tribune used the tower’s ground floor as its “local room” —where reporters from different departments worked side by side and shared tips on the news of the day. It was a gathering spot for the great minds of Oakland, and a place where headlines were made. The Tribune Tavern will carry on that tradition—as a place for people to mingle over happy hour drinks, lunch meetings, or dinner—with authentic, nourishing comfort food that’s affordable enough for everyone to enjoy, and a bar stocked with the best locally-made beer and wine. Tom Henderson is the new owner of the Tribune building and partner in the Tavern restaurant. He is President & CEO of the San Francisco Regional Center, an Oakland native and resident with over 30 years of successful businesses in import/export. Woods Beer Co.'s third Bay Area location features exciting small-batch craft beer made in-house at a three-barrel brewery above the bar. Features a large, enclosed patio centered on a grand open fireplace, a gorgeously restored twenty-foot-long antique mahogany bar, and a state-of-the-art three-barrel (93-gallon) brewing system upstairs. The bar features twelve beers on tap, mostly Woods Beer brewed on-site or at our smaller brewpub, Cervecería, in San Francisco's Mission District. A few taps feature a rotating mix of guest beers from the area's best and most creative craft breweries, and Woods Beer in bottles and growlers will be available for purchase to go.

Haven's dining room offers a family-style menu that changes every night. Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings the menu is three courses for $52, and Friday and Saturday the menu is four courses for $68. There is a choice of a meat-based or vegetarian main course. In our bar we serve an a la carte menu of house-made pastas, cheese and charcuterie. Haven serves satisfying, comforting, modern American food—family meal favorites reimagined through the elegant, expert techniques of Executive Chef Matt Brimer.
