Committed to presenting a vast range of styles and forms of time-based art, DEFIBRILLATOR is dedicated to fostering local talent while invigorating Chicago by bringing to the city artists of exceptional calibre from around the world. Contextualizing performance within visual art, we embrace those who look to the body, objects, space, and time for inspiration, research, and practice. Providing opportunities for established and emerging artists alike, DEFIBRILLATOR is a platform for underrepresented voices and time-based work that does not sit comfortably within pre-established genres or disciplines. Dynamic programming, decidedly fearless and unique, aims to provoke thought and stimulate discourse surrounding performance art. Our goal is to foster and contribute to a global dialog surrounding conceptual, ephemeral, or enigmatic forms of expression.
We are an all encompassing grassroots local ARTIST coalition. Our goal is to support and promote STREET ART & GRAFFITI culture in Chicago and we are passionate about providing affordable artwork in a non-intimidating atmosphere. Tango dance studio and club. All levels welcome. $25 Argentine Tango lesson for absolute beginners, no previous dance experience necessary. No partner needed. If you can count to eight and hear the beat in the music, you will be dancing half an hour into the lesson. We provide a great learning experience in a friendly atmosphere, because even the greatest dancers weren’t born knowing how to dance – they had to learn it from someone else. The Tango style that we teach is not the flashy one you see on "Dancing with the Stars" or "So You Think You Can Dance." The Tango we teach is called social, or salon style. However, if you want to try a couple of these showy Tango moves, we can show them to you as well! Couple of important items – please wear clean and comfortable clothes. If you've never danced tango before, you’ll also need a couple of pairs of thick socks. If you have shoes with leather or suede bottoms, bring them with you, but you do not need to buy any shoes before coming to your first class. All of our classes include appetizers, deserts, and refreshments: Tuesday – $25.00 class and practica from 7:30pm to 1:00am Friday – $25.00 classes (all levels) from 7:30pm to 9:30pm; milonga starts at 9:30pm and ends at 2:00am Sunday – $25.00 classes (all levels) from 3:00pm to 5:00pm; practilonga starts at 5:00pm and ends at 7:00pm (or whenever we get tired of dancing!)
