The My Textbook Circle Team, a group of undergraduates from the University of St. Thomas and from St. Catherine University, has joined forces with our fellow UST students in the hopes of putting an end to the textbook cost crisis. Tuition, rent, and other relative costs are very expensive for students throughout the U.S. Why should textbooks be an added expense to your annual shopping list for education? Our goal is to keep money within the hands of students rather than in the hands of corporate giants and textbook publishers who thrive off of our money and from campus bookstores that receive high profits from low buyback prices. The My Textbook Circle Team is also in the process of developing philanthropic and eco-friendly initiatives to conserve resources and promote environmental protection, and to support our community. If you and other students buy, rent, and sell your books through My Textbook Circle rather than through corporations such as Amazon and eBay, you will not only help yourself, but you will also help your fellow students. Our goal is to allow students to buy their books from us at the beginning of the semester and then re-sell them to other students through our store at the end of the semester, thus forming a "circle" for your books. Together, we can end the reign of textbook publishers, corporate giants, and campus bookstores so students can have more input in regards to their textbook prices.

SHINE seeks to create a tight-knit community for all Christians on campus that promotes friendship, learning, and growth of faith through community service, study of The Word and works of God, and by creating a fellowship with Christians in different places along their faith journey.
The great eleventh-century theologian, St. Anselm, described theology as “faith seeking understanding.” The theology department at UST lives and works in the spirit of St. Anselm’s words. Theology is the academic discipline that brings the tools of scholarship to the reflection on God, God’s relation to the world, and the human experiences of both. Our department is one of the largest in any Catholic university in the country. We have enthusiastic and passionate teacher-scholars in every area of theology. Students at St. Thomas take three theology courses as part of their core curriculum. The first course introduces the tradition of Christian theological reflection. The second-level courses invite students to "do" theology—that is, to engage in reasoning about an aspect of faith. In their third-level courses, called “bridge courses,” students bring theological concepts and methods into dialogue with other disciplines.
