Zambra is the shared vision of partners Peter Slamp and Adam Bannasch. Our dynamic menu is the passion of Executive Chef Adam. Adam has attained many influences through his training in Europe and New Orleans. Zambra is his modern, local vision of the tastes and flavors of the western Mediterranean: Spain, Portugal, Gypsy, and North Africa. We are a tapas restaurant and like tapas restaurants in Spain, the menu selections are based on locally available ingredients. Because of this philosophy, our menu differs from what you would have in Spain but our inspiration is Spanish. As an appropriate accompaniment, we have assembled one of the region's finest selection of Spanish and New World wines. We have been awarded the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence and our winelist has been voted the best in Asheville. The Zambra experience has been featured in Southern Living, on the Food Network and been recognized across the country in publications as diverse as: The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, and the Charlotte News and Observer.

Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre is a non-profit professional dance company created in 1979. As western North Carolina's first professional modern dance company, we believe that everything everywhere is dance and everyone is a dancer. We explore the through lines that exist between cultures, our society, and our world. Through art and inspiration, the company illuminates the the points of intersection that exist on both intellectual and emotional levels, and our diverse repertory reflects both traditional and experimental forms of modern dance. ACDT performs up to 80 times a year in Asheville, its hometown, the southeastern United States, and abroad (France, Canada, Cuba, Mexico...). Our repertory consists of both full-length modern dance ballets geared toward more mature audiences such as Looking for Frida and The Last Dance of Mata Hari as well as shows geared towards children and general audiences such as The Legend of Chocolate and Fables. ACDT is the producer of several dance and performing arts festivals in Asheville (The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival, the 48 Hour Dance Project, and The Men's Dance Festival to name a few) and through White Dog ProjectX International, ACDT's professional international touring program, they bring in artists from around the world to share their talents and enrich the Asheville community.

Abracadabra! For the second year in a row, the streets of downtown Asheville will come alive with mystery and wonder for The Asheville Magic Festival. On May 1st through 3rd, more than 20 illusionists, conjurers, jugglers, balloon artists, storytellers and face painters will appear in and around The Masonic Temple for the premier magic festival in the south. To honor the occasion, Mayor Esther Manheimer will issue an Official Proclamation, declaring May 1, 2 & 3 as "Magic Days". For children and adults alike, this weekend of wonder will feature dazzling displays of the Magical Arts, from Close-up to Street and Stage, One-Man Shows, All Star Galas and even a Magical Masquerade Ball. Last year’s festival received rave reviews with sold out shows and standing ovations. For 2015, producer Jay Scott Berry is pulling another rabbit out of his hat, bringing in top stars from Las Vegas and around the world, for a non-stop celebration of wonder. Local magician and magic shop owner, Ricky Boone, says, “I’m so excited to have this happening right here in my hometown. Jay Scott Berry and I discussed this idea 20 years ago when he first came here to perform. He’s now the world’s top producer of magic festivals and could not have chosen a better place than Asheville! Many who attended last year’s festival are still talking about it.” Berry replies, “Ricky is a great friend, true inspiration and a fantastic magician. Last year, I was happy to have him as one our main performers and guest of honor. This four foot giant took the stage alongside some of the world’s very best and not only held his own, but shined!” This year’s prestigious headliners include the national president of The Society of American Magicians, Ice McDonald. Joining him, from Canada, is one of the world’s leading female magicians, the elegant and dazzling, Ariann Black and, direct from Las Vegas, Michael Goudeau, a Guinness World Record holder and the most successful juggler in Vegas history. And that’s just the beginning; Jay Scott Berry, one of the world’s finest, will mystify young and old alike with his visual wizardry. Asheville stars, Ricky Boone and Max Vega will join regional stars, Chastain Criswell, Wayne Anderson, Glen Yost, Hannibal, Marcie McGrath, Vixi Jil Glen and Mike Edwards to amaze, amuse and inspire. The weekend also spotlights promising young talents in The Rising Stars Gala and throughout the festival. Heading up this cast is Eric Stevens, one of the finest young magicians in the world today and Sean Rader, who, at just 12 years of age, has performed alongside some of the world’s greatest magicians and clowns. And, just to show that magic isn’t just for boys, LizzyC, from Myrtle Beach, will present her award-winning stage act. Finally, the celebrated local group, The Café String Quartet, will add their own musical magic, playing live at The Wonderland Ball. Tim Arem, local radio personality and co-creator of The Asheville Flyer for Kids, is another ardent supporter. “If you think about it, most people’s experience of magic is from TV, seeing someone like David Blaine or Chris Angel. But to really experience the wonder of Magic, you have to see it live. This festival is something truly special for Asheville: Wholesome, family entertainment, presented by world class artists, at reasonable prices. How can you beat that?” Berry adds, sounding a bit like Willy Wonka, “Think of this as a magical voyage into the world of pure imagination, a golden ticket, for everyone who loves magic.” The fun all begins with The Grand Opening Celebration at high noon on Friday. This is a free event for introductions, photos and autographs. The All-Star Street Magic Gala starts at 6pm and later that night, the Meet the Stars party starts at 10pm. These events are also free. The festival wraps up with the Closing Party at 8pm Sunday night. In between will be non-stop fun, amazement, and so much more. Your journey starts in the lavishly restored theatre at the Asheville Masonic Temple at 80 Broadway St. This historic venue will host all the Main Events, including the Razzle Dazzle show at 8pm Friday, the Wizards of Wonder matinee on Saturday, The Wonderland Ball on Saturday night plus One-Man Shows and Lectures. Main Event Tickets start at $10 each and some of the shows are free. All-inclusive Golden Tickets are reasonably priced starting at $149 Adults and $99 for Children. Free strolling magic can be seen at the Official Festival Venues such as The Mellow Mushroom and Olive or Twist. Make plans now to attend this historic event. There are a number of partner hotels, offering Festival rates, within easy reach of the downtown area. Detailed schedule, venue map, tickets and show times are available on the Festival website:

If you aren't familiar with our style of glasswork let me explain a bit....We use very large torches to melt clear and colored glass ,then we stretch, squash, blow, poke prod, coax and sometimes even yell at the glass to get it to mold into the shape that we're going for. We create a very wide variety of objects from Stemware to Sculpture. As you will see, we are clearly very sporadic! Thanks for taking the time to visit our page! Take the time while you're here to browse our photos for great examples of our work!
