Anime Expo is an annual convention dedicated to Japanese culture and currently held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Traditionally Anime Expo (AX) is held on July 4th weekend as a 4-day event. Anime Expo is growing in scale dramatically, and is currently the largest anime and manga convention in North America. Popular events include; the Masquerade, Anime Music Video Contest, Concerts, and the Fashion Show. Anime Expo also offers late-night programming such as dance, video screenings, tabletop and electronic gaming, and open-mic karaoke. Many of the attendees cosplay while attending the convention, and join in the many gatherings for fans of different anime, manga, gaming and other genres. Renowned for its ability to bring famous guests to America for panels and concerts, Anime Expo has been the site of many U.S. premiers of shows, movies, and bands including; AKB48, Hatsune Miku, Morning Masume, Porno Graffitti, Yoko Kanno, SKIN and many more.

Bob Hope Patriotic Hall is a 10-story building that was dedicated as Patriotic Hall by the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors in 1925 and was built to serve veterans of Indian Wars, Spanish–American War, World War I and to support the Grand Army of the Republic. It serves as the home of the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Patriotic hall was rededicated to honor of Bob Hope and renamed "Bob Hope Patriotic Hall" on November 12, 2004. Ruth A. Wong became the Director of Military and Veterans Affairs on July 16, 2013.HistoryPatriotic Hall was built in 1925 and the building opened its doors in 1926 to serve the public. When it was built, the 85000sqft building was the tallest building in the city.DesignThe building was designed by Allied Architects Association using Romanesque features. Pico is an at-grade light rail station in the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system. It is located in the South Park neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles, on Flower Street just north of Pico Boulevard. The station is served by the Metro Blue Line and the Metro Expo Line. The Metro Silver Line buses heading northbound to El Monte Station stop one block west of the station at Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard. Soutbound Silver Line buses heading to Harbor Gateway Transit Center stop at Flower St./Pico Blvd.The full (official) station name is Pico/Chick Hearn. This name memorializes sportscaster Francis Dayle "Chick" Hearn (1916–2002), longtime play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Lakers.
