The chapel was named for donor Sylvester Willard.The Auburn Affirmation is named for Robert Hastings Nichols who was a professor at the time.In 1939, the Great Depression caused the seminary to move to New York City to share the campus of the Union Theological Seminary. The journal Child Development has just released the results of a major federally funded scientific evaluation of our 4Rs program. The results show that The 4Rs has a powerful effect on children. The rigorous 3-year study, conducted by researchers from NYU, Fordham, and Harvard, found that compared to children in control schools, kids in schools implementing the 4Rs were less aggressive, less likely to ascribe hostile motives to others, and had greater social competency. Children judged by their teachers to be at greatest behavioral risk showed marked improvements in attendance, academic skills, and standardized test scores. The study also found that The 4Rs improved classroom quality in ways that are correlated with improved academic achievement. The article, published in the January-February 2011 issue of Child Development, reports on a meta-analysis of 213 school-based SEL programs. In April 2003, Columbia University created the Center for Computational Learning Systems (CCLS) within the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) with Dr. David Waltz as its founding director. Today more than 30 CCLS research scientists, grad students, professional staff members, and industry specialists work in collaboration with Computer Science and other Columbia University departments. CCLS has become a hub for basic machine learning research and especially the application of machine learning to large scale business and government systems, systems reliability and security, natural language translation and understanding, computational biology and bioinformatics, and computer vision. Unlike faculty in a university teaching department, CCLS scientists and staff can commit 100% of their time to research projects. Most of our researchers supervise graduate students working at CCLS for course credit or on dissertations. CCLS researchers occasionally offer courses as adjunct faculty. Depending on the requirements of each project, a CCLS team can draw on the knowledge and skills of faculty, students and researchers from Columbia University as well as from other universities, companies, and government.

We target grades (K-12), and also we are a Foundation that will disseminate good manners through Korean Traditional Culture. We are so proud of non-Korean students for the behavior change through the Korean Language and Culture Classes. B) For the second and third generation Korean-Americans and the future generations to come; while learning Korean traditional culture we will also have a Korean Traditional Festival that will help students learn proper etiquette and also feel a sense pride and identity. The Center for Palestine Studies is the first such center to be established in an academic institution in the United States. The mission of the new Center is to promote the academic study of Palestine in all its forms and to offer a dedicated site for sustained interchanges among scholars and students. Center activities are intended to advance the production and circulation of knowledge on Palestinian history, culture, society, and politics in diverse fields, including history, literary studies, the social sciences, religion, philosophy, law, archaeology, the arts and architecture. Columbia University currently is the professional home to a unique concentration of distinguished scholars on Palestine and Palestinians, as well as to an award-winning supporting faculty in a variety of disciplines. In addition to extensive faculty writings and varied course offerings on Palestine and Palestinians, the university also houses an important Palestinian film collection. Building on these wide-ranging and multi-disciplinary academic interests, the creation of the Center for Palestine Studies is intended to recognize and further engage this world-class academic strength. In its diverse activities, the Center for Palestine Studies will have a national and global reach.
