The Prudential Tower, also known as the Prudential Building or, colloquially, The Pru, is an International Style skyscraper in Boston, Massachusetts. The building, a part of the Prudential Center complex, currently stands as the 2nd-tallest building in Boston, behind the 200 Clarendon building. The Prudential Tower was designed by Charles Luckman and Associates for Prudential Insurance. Completed in 1964, the building is 749ft tall, with 52 floors. It contains 1200000sqft of commercial and retail space. Including its radio mast, the tower stands as the tallest building in Boston and is tied with others as the 77th-tallest in the United States, rising to 907ft in height.A restaurant, the Top of the Hub, occupies the 52nd floor. A 50th-floor observation deck, called the Skywalk Observatory, is currently the highest observation deck in New England open to the public, as the higher observation deck of the John Hancock Tower has been closed since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.HistoryThe Prudential Tower began construction in 1960 with steel erection work by Donovan Steel. Upon its completion in 1964, the Prudential was the tallest building in the world outside of New York City, surpassing the Terminal Tower in Cleveland, Ohio. It dwarfed the 1947-John Hancock building. This spurred the insurance rival to build the 1975 John Hancock Tower, which is slightly taller at 790ft.

Built in 1954 and named in 1957 for patron Godfrey Lowell Cabot, the building houses a variety of facilities for the various teams. The arena is built on the site of the old Huntington Avenue Grounds, where the first-ever World Series baseball game was held in 1903, and is barely over a quarter-mile away to the southwest from the Matthews Arena, the original home of the NHL's Boston Bruins ice hockey team in 1924.

The building originally was designed with a flat roof, but Boston Mayor Thomas Menino disapproved, saying, "Guys, flat roofs don’t make it." Menino chose the design of the present roof from a set of options the developer subsequently proffered.The postmodern facade consists of a blue glass curtain wall designed by the architect firm Childs Bertman Tseckares Inc. (CBT). The lobby interior consists of reflective black marble walls with finished wood paneling and a dramatic lobby waterfall. It can be accessed from the adjacent Prudential retail mall.The building has two main stairways at its core along with two freight elevators. Both cover all floors including the basement parking garage area, where there are two additional levels called P1 and P2. Of the total number of passenger elevators, four travel between the 2nd and 9th floors, six travel to the 10th–22nd floors, and another six travel between the 23rd and 35th floors. Beside the main lobby, the tower also has two elevators which serve the two sub-levels of the parking garage. The elevators in the tower are each outfitted with two small flat-screen televisions that show daily news and trivia.

Owned by iHeartMedia, the station operates on 107.9 FM, and is a sister station to rhythmic contemporary WJMN, once a major rival to Kiss, and country music outlet WBWL.The station's studios are located in Medford and the transmitter site sits atop the Prudential Tower in downtown Boston.Kiss 108 is one of the most prominent top 40 stations in New England and the United States, notable primarily for its annual Kiss Concert, which draws some of the best-known names in the pop music business to Mansfield's Xfinity Center concert venue each spring. Morning DJ Matt Siegel has been a fixture on the Boston airwaves since 1981, and was briefly nationally syndicated during the late 1990s. Kiss 108 was also the flagship station for Open House Party Saturday hosted by John Garabedian, broadcasting from his house in suburban Boston, but on March 10, 2007, Kiss 108 dropped Saturday edition Open House Party and began a new show called The Saturday Night Mash-Up, and later, the syndicated Saturday Night Online hosted by Romeo. The Sunday edition of Open House Party hosted by Kannon was broadcast shortly on Kiss 108, replacing the Saturday night show, until May 2008.
