Located at 418 Villita Street on the south bank of the San Antonio River, http://goo.gl/maps/UdlnW La Villita was one of San Antonio’s first neighborhoods. It was originally a settlement of primitive huts for the Spanish soldiers stationed at the Mission San Antonio Valero (the Alamo). After a flood in 1819, brick, stone and adobe houses replaced the earlier structures. In 1836, La Villita was the site of General Santa Ana’s cannon line in the Battle of the Alamo and a map from early that year showed the village to be of considerable size. Late in the 19th century European immigrants from Germany and France moved into the area. These pioneers became San Antonio’s business leaders, bankers, educators, and craftsmen. The cultural mix that occurred at this time is best illustrated by the variety of architectural styles reflected in La Villita’s buildings. The architecture portrays the evolution of buildings from palisado to Victorian Houses. The first part of the 20th century saw La Villita decline into a slum area. In 1939, as ground broke on the San Antonio River Walk development, city fathers led by Mayor Maury Maverick acted to preserve this colorful part of San Antonio’s history. Today La Villita is a thriving art community that stands as a monument to San Antonio’s past. La Villita has five interconnected plazas for outdoor gatherings such as wedding receptions, birthday parties, retirement celebrations and much more. The Mexican Cultural Institute at San Antonio , Texas, is the Permanent Cultural Representation of the Mexican Government in this city. This Institute has been linked since its beginnings to the cultural life of San Antonio, and so, one of our main tasks is to ensure the growth and strengthening of such link by promoting a direct and active participation of the community. The creation of the Mexican Cultural Institute is the product of a great effort by the Mexican Government that began in 1958 with the foundation of the “Gallery of Mexican Art” at the General Mexican Consulate of San Antonio, Texas. In 1968 the Instituto Cultural de Mexico displayed a large amount of examples of Mexican art at the “Hemisfair 1968”; and in 1972 the Mayor of the city of San Antonio presented the Mexican President with the current facilities of the Instituto Cultural de Mexico at San Antonio. This Institute depends directly from the General Office of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Over its 50 years of existence at Hemisfair Park, the Instituto Cultural de Mexico has been able to maintain an important place on the cultural life of San Antonio, thanks to its wide range of events designed to show the many faces of the Mexican culture. For this purpose, the Instituto has three galleries, a multiple purpose room and an auditorium that can hold up to 250 people.
We are a rehearsal and music studio collective in San Antonio, Tx conveniently located in the Southtown neighborhood. We provide rehearsal space for bands and musicians as well as music recording, mixing, mastering and audio engineering services.
Equinox Gallery serves as a meeting place to showcase and educate the community by providing a platform for the diversity in the field of metalsmithing. Our exhibition space honors the history of the culture of the southwest and blends traditional and current objects of adornment. Equinox houses the working studio of owner and artist Alejandro Sifuentes and his work is on view year round. The gallery hosts invitational exhibitions throughout the year and is located in La Villita in the heart of downtown San Antonio, Texas.
'Mana' is a Hawaiian word that translates to mean power, but the native Hawaiian concept of power doesn't equate to material possessions or what floor your office is on. Mana is a life energy that flows through all things, empowering an individual and thus the community at large. Our goal at Mana House is to create an environment conducive to creative beings finding and nurturing their inner creative power and thus reflect that back within our community. With the history of Sunset Station behind us, the space was once used as a gunpowder house- we are transforming that energy into a present day ignition, and empowering our community through art and dialogue. We at Mana House have worked hard at creating a strong network in the San Antonio community of professional, like-minded individuals who are looking for more opportunities to come together for social and community benefit. As we host events in this space we will give the community the opportunity to network and grow, while promoting the wonderful, creative individuals of San Antonio. Our love of art and eye for local talent has inspired us to use the exposed brick walls and street level location of this space as a gallery open to the public. We envision day to day activity from tourists and locals, as well as exhibit receptions. We look forward to sharing ideas and helping promote our individual and collective works. The American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program, Inc. (NVOP) was founded and developed as a separate corporation in 1972 by the American GI Forum of the U.S., the nation’s largest Hispanic veterans’ organization chartered by the U.S. Congress. The objective was to create a new entity that would provide “hands on” services to veterans at the community level. The NVOP is a duly chartered non-profit corporation qualified by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable organization under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code. The NVOP, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is recognized nationally as a premier community-based service provider specializing in services for veterans with special needs. The NVOP is an organization with diversified service components administered by the prime organization (the NVOP) and six sub-corporations that operate services that include employment and training for veterans, affordable housing for the elderly, homeless veterans services, economic development projects that include the Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS) box manufacturing company, and the American GI Forum Weatherization company. As a charitable organization the NVOP and all sub-corporations are non-profit entities overseen by a Board of Directors composed of community volunteers and elected officers of the American GI Forum membership organization. In the past 35 years the American GI Forum has established a glittering reputation of administrative professionalism and accountability, and a sterling reputation for innovation in developing services meeting the contemporary needs of the veterans of today. In 35 years the NVOP has never been cited for any disallowed expenses on its annual independent audits, and it has received such accolades as the Regional Award for Cost Effectiveness from the U.S. Department of Labor, selected as a national Best Practice model by the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, and awarded the U.S. Department of HUD Blue Ribbon award for innovation in economic development when it created the Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS) box manufacturing company that created jobs for disabled individuals.

On Saturday, October 10, 2015, Artpace will present its 12th Annual Chalk It Up arts festival. Thanks to Presenting Sponsor Argo Group and our generous supporters, this annual celebration of contemporary art empowers the San Antonio community by providing free access to creative activities designed to engage and embolden young audiences. In 2013, more than 22,500 people gathered to express their creativity among family, friends, and neighbors along four blocks of downtown’s Houston Street. Using the temporary and accessible medium of chalk, Artpace transports its mission to serve as a creative laboratory into the public sphere by providing barrier-free, direct engagement with the arts for all San Antonians. In fact, for many of the attendees, Chalk It Up is a hands-on introduction to art and art making. At its core, Chalk It Up plays a pivotal role in ensuring students continue to experience and explore the possibilities of art. Through participation in the festival’s street gallery and adjacent creation stations, children—who comprise an overwhelming majority of the audience—gain an invaluable opportunity to practice teamwork and sharpen critical thinking skills, proven outcomes of access to art education. Taking place on Saturday, October 11, 2014, from 10am to 4pm, Chalk It Up is entirely funded by Artpace’s generous partners who enjoy opportunities for community-wide brand exposure in exchange for event underwriting.

A MSP is a tailored strategic plan that includes financial tax, legal and immigration planning which becomes the main tool for the international individual to immigrate and invest properly in the United States.
