Seasonal Socca – Market-based, fresh fare with French flair. In the sun-drenched South of France, Nice has a cuisine rich in the most colorful produce of the region. In DC, Seasonal Socca reimagines this traditional cuisine at the city’s first Farmstand Café. Our Farmstand Café serves vegetable-focused cuisine at DC farmers’ markets by gathering the freshest local produce of the season and turning it into creative café fare. Our signature dish, the Soccawich, is a novel, naturally gluten-free sandwich created by our chef, Kaitlin Forster. Soccawiches use the traditional Niçois street food, socca, a healthy, protein- and fiber-rich chickpea flatbread, as the base for a delicious assortment of seasonal sandwiches. Socca is also served alongside our fresh salads and savory soups and best enjoyed hot-off-the-griddle, the way it is served at the markets in Nice. Seasonal Socca works with local farmers and producers to source the best ingredients from the region and craft dishes utilizing fresh, abundant ingredients. As the seasons change and the harvest shifts, so does our menu, rotating to incorporate the bounty from local farms. Nature inspires our cooking and the dining experience we offer at our Farmstand Café. We appreciate the contributions of our local farmers and are constantly searching for new, creative ways to present their amazing produce. Farmers’ markets are important community gathering places and invite you to join us at the market to savor a flavorful and nutrient-rich meal to power you through your day. Take a moment to enjoy your food outdoors, a respite from your busy day and a chance to recharge. Grab a seat on a bench in Layfayette Park, Dupont Circle, or another favorite urban picnic spot and treat yourself to a share of the bounty of this beautiful region.

The philosophy at Cured DC is to bring traditional dry curing back to the public. Butchery and artisan meats are important traditions that we are losing. We used to make everything by hand and we, at Cured DC, want to see some of those traditional ways of making food come back. Cured DC has partnered with a local Maryland farm. They produce and raise everything they have beyond organic. That means using traditional methods. No animals eat other animals or corn. They eat what they were intended to eat. No plants are sprayed with chemicals, just sun, water, and soil. The pigs they raise, root around in the dirt eating acorns and grubs, living a very happy existence. The pork goes from live to our dry chamber in a matter of days and is never frozen. We want you to savor our meats and our labor. We take pride in our products and hope you will sit down with friends, family, co-workers and have a slice of duck prosciutto and let it literally cure your stresses away. We hope you enjoy our labor of love!
