Bethany Baptist Church was a historic church at 117 W. Market Street in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The current pastor is the Reverend Dr. M. William Howard, Jr.The church traces its origins to 1870, when a group of African Americans established the church on Broad Street in Newark, in the building of the Peddie Memorial Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the Reverend Ebenezer Bird, who had come from Virginia to lead the congregation of about 26 members, the group was officially sanctioned as a church by the Council of Baptist Churches in June 1871. Thus, the church prides itself as being the "first Baptist congregation founded by people of African descent."The Romanesque style church building was constructed in 1866. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.The church was under the stewardship of M. William Howard, Jr.. from 2000-2015.The old building appears to have been replaced by a housing complex, and has been replaced by a new building at 275 W. Market Street. The new building was dedicated on May 2, 1976.

HILTON RAWLS Mid-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund Morristown, NJ Dear Friends and Family: Be a part of a Real Miracle! Today you can help save a life. For the past few years, Hilton has been courageously battling poor health. With diabetes and hypertension, Hilton has suffered 2 strokes and 3 heart attacks and now renal failure. Even with many medical issues and multiple hospitalizations, Hilton’s determination to fight for life is incredibly admirable and encouraging. His love for his wife, Kisha and his 2 sons, Shelton, 19 and Hilton III, 2 years, in addition to his unwavering faith has kept him grounded and focused on surviving. Hilton’s strength to live is an inspiration to all. Hilton has had several family members come forward to be tested for potential living kidney donors. With his health in decline, he has been unable to work since April and his only real chance at a long productive life is to receive a kidney transplant as soon as possible. Currently, Hilton has begun the initial medical evaluation at St. Barnabas Medical Center. However, the extraordinary expense of transplantation, along with Hilton’s inability to work, make funding this life saving operation is a monumental task. Hilton is still awaiting a response from Medicare/Medicaid, but even with 80% that each plan covers, many medical needs will remain uninsured and must be paid out of pocket. The operation with lifelong medications costs approximately $650,000. Therefore, Hilton will be responsible to produce a minimum of $125,000 to start the transplant process once the proper insurance is in place. This presents a challenge Hilton cannot meet alone. To help with his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Hilton’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a non-profit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPLive in the Mid-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Hilton’s life the way he has for so many others. Please consider making a contribution. What can it do for me? The Network, through the Office of Apostle Ernest Leonard, provides a prayer shield of protection against the powers of darkness. Leaders, like Apostle Leonard who have been ordained and commissioned by God to be apostolic “fathers” have a breakthrough anointing upon their lives which enables them to penetrate the very powers of darkness and dethrone powers over territorial regions and geographic locations. End time, apostolic fathers have a kingship anointing in the realm of the spirit, which demonic opposition and the powers of darkness recognize.
