On the corner of Hereford and Wilson in the historic Italian neighborhood known as "The Hill," chef Dominic Galati and his wife, Jackie, serve up continental Italian cuisine with an emphasis on traditional regional dishes in an elegant atmosphere. Voted one of the two best Italian restaurants in the country by Conde Nast Traveler, Dominic's features fresh fish daily, sumptuous veal, beef, lamb, chicken, and homemade pasta as well as a comprehensive wine list. Dominic Galati emigrated to the United States from Sicily in 1964, bringing with him a passion for food and life. He settled in St. Louis and, after learning the business, opened Dominic's on the Hill in 1971. He and Jackie, along with their extended family, have worked tirelessly to make Dominic's one of the finest Italian restaurants in the country. Since 1974, Dominic’s has been honored with the DiRoNA (Distinguished Restaurants of North America) award and is also the recipient of the Mobil Travel Guide Four-Star Award. Dominic’s serves dinner Monday – Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. Business dress and tasteful casual attire is preferred. Valet parking is available on the weekend for your convenience. Some visitors have commented that our hours seem a bit odd and that sometimes we are closed when they arrive. I'd like to explain so that our visitors understand why that sometimes occurs. Mama Josephine's is all about my mom. The restaurant is a tribute to her; a way of showing my love for her and sharing her wonderful recipes. It is a small place where hospitality is one of the spices we use in every dish. It is a small place though; too small to sustain a decent income for my staff if I were to draw any type of income from it. Because I am a research scientist and have other obligations at times, and occasionally my staff has to be out for some reason, the restaurant is closed during what for us would be normal business hours. We always put a message on the phone, post to FB, and on Nextdoor so that our visitors can be made aware when this occurs. I know it's a pain, but please understand. I want to share my mom's wonderful food and we make every effort to be there if at all possible, but sometimes it just can't happen. The Piper Palm House's Café Madeleine offers visitors a relaxing environment to plan or reflect on their park experience every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. During that time, visitors may enjoy a brunch buffet amid the palms and statues, or outdoors on the Stupp Plaza in warm weather. The adjacent lily ponds offer a tranquil backdrop against which to relax or visit with friends or family. The Piper Palm House is also available for a variety of events, including wedding receptions, graduation parties, and other celebrations.
