Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Are you a "cash-only" establishment? No! We welcome all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover). During large events (or when it is jammin'), we ****HIGHLY ENCOURAGE CASH.**** *We* don't mind the use of credit cards, but because of the sheer number of customers, wait times to close out your tab can be exceedingly lengthy, which can be frustrating for *you.* 2. Do y'all sell crawfish? Not regularly. Several people have called us or shown up expecting that we regularly sell crawfish, and we don't know from where this misleading information is coming. We usually have two or three crawfish boils a year. When we do, we post information about it on our page, so keep checking back! 3. Do y'all sell food? The Ice House itself does not sell food. However, we nearly always have one of a rotating selection of food trucks on our property. In addition, the Tacos Tierra Caliente food truck is permanently parked right across the street. Guests are welcome to purchase food at these establishments or bring in their own food and dine at our picnic tables. 4. Can I bring my kid to the bar? Yes! Anyone under the age of 21 is welcome, so long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. 5. Can I bring my dog/food/games to the bar? Absolutely! We only ask that you keep your dog on a leash at all times. 6. Do you sell liquor? We do not sell liquor. In traditional ice house fashion, we serve strictly beer, wine, and cider. We also have bottled water and soft drinks available. 7. Can I bring my own alcohol or other drinks? You may NOT bring alcohol of any type into our establishment. However, you may bring any non-alcoholic drinks you like in any quantity. 8. Do y'all sell ice or dry ice? Believe it or not, we get this question a lot. No, we don't sell ice in any form. We are a bar! 9. Do you allow smoking on your patio? If you're asking this, then you're a first-time customer, so welcome to the WAIH!!! We are essentially ALL patio, and yes, you can smoke here. In the winter, we wrap the building portion of our bar in plastic, and smoking is restricted in certain areas inside the "bubble," so just ask the bartender where you can be. 10. Are you gonna show [X game] on the TVs today? We have four TV tuners with DirectTV and Comcast, so if the network is available with these providers with our packages, we can usually show it. During football and basketball season, we try to plan ahead and have all the TVs set to autotune to the relevant games of the day. **We do not show any pay-per-view games or events.** If you come to the bar and would like to watch something in particular, please tell the bartender which NETWORK you would like, and on which television. We will do our best to accommodate everyone, and we can usually do so, but there are no guarantees. Due to the complicated process involved in changing channels (seriously), we cannot accept requests during large events. 11. Do you sell buckets of beer? No, for myriad reasons (TABC has complicated and sometimes arbitrary rules for ice houses). We can give you a six-pack holder of beer, but **we cannot serve you beer on ice.** 12. Since you're a completely outdoor bar, are you open when it's cold/raining/hot? YES! A large portion of our establishment has a roof over it, so rain is no problem. When it's cold outside, we wrap the bar in a plastic bubble and put out radiant heaters. You'll stay nice and toasty! During the warmer months, you can lounge in comfort with the help of our misting fan system! 13. What activities are there to do at your bar? We have billiards ($1 per game), a touchscreen game ($.50 - $1 per game), Golden Tee (~$4-7 per game), a basketball hoop, beanbag toss, a ping-pong table, playing cards, dominoes, and Jumbo Jenga! Unless otherwise noted, games are free; just give the bartender your ID for security and play away! 14. Do you have free Wi-Fi? Yes! Bring your laptop, phone, or tablet and come surf the web! When you arrive, ask the bartender for the password. We'd post it here, but it's subject to change occasionally, and we might forget to change it here. 15. I want to plan an event at your bar. How do I go about doing that? We love events, and we can host just about anything! To book an event or party with us, contact Pete at 713.542.9300. He's a busy guy and sometimes can't answer his phone, so it's best to send him a text with your name, the type of event you would like to have, the approximate size of your party, a number where we can reach you (if different from the one you used to text), and the date and time you are requesting. Pete, Frank, Brian, or Blair will get back to you to iron out the details. 16. I read this whole FAQ and you didn't address my question! What do I do? If it's not too pressing, send us a private message! Several bartenders manage this page, so we get back to you pretty quickly, often within 24 hours. If that doesn't work for you (or we failed to respond), feel free to call the bar at 713.528.6874. Please keep in mind that the bartender fields phone calls while serving customers, so the best time to call is when we're not too busy. This is typically in the morning (between 10 and 12).

Triniti Restaurant

With a nod to the culinary triad of sweet, savory and spirits, Executive Chef Ryan Hildebrand and a stellar lineup of culinary talent are banding together to create Triniti, a progressive American restaurant designed by locally based MC2 Architects. Chef de Cusine Pat Sommers, and Manager Jase Santiago invite you to come join them for a fantastic culinary experience. Located at 2815 S. Shepherd Drive, the restaurant promises to be unlike any other in Houston in both cuisine and design. “What’s exciting about Triniti is that it’s an artistic outlet for everyone” says Hildebrand. “So much attention is going into everything – inside and out – Triniti’s core menu, which will change seasonally, features what Hildebrand is describing as “progressive, regional American cuisine.” Plates will have a lighter touch and will be more seasonally oriented. The style of food will be similar to what Hildebrand was creating at Textile Restaurant, where he served as Executive Chef. A supplemental menu will change weekly. “If you visit more than once a week, and we hope you will, you’ll have new items to choose from,” says Hildebrand, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. His resume includes tours of duty with high profile Houston chefs including Mark Cox, Jim Mills, Philippe Schmit and Scott Tycer, among others. On the beverage side of the menu, Rick will focus on classic, Champagne and “Nouvelle Vague” (new wave) cocktails, along with craft beers and a wine list that is, according to Rick, “creative, fun and drinkable.” The 5,400 square foot building, last known as Pravada, is being transformed inside and out by MC2 Architects. Lauded for their residential work, this is their first foray into restaurant design. “They wanted to do a project like this,” says Hildebrand. “Everything is glass, open, airy, a nice balanced aesthetic with lots of wood, metal and concrete. It’s not too casual, not too contemporary.” The customized space features a fully exposed exhibition kitchen with a chef’s table and counter seating offering an interactive experience to its diners. There are few interior walls enhancing the connective nature of the experience. Chairs, light fixtures and a custom chandelier by British designer Tom Dixon are being shipped in from London. Tables are mixed walnut butcher block. Besides the chef’s table that seats 14, friends and family can gather around a community table for 10. Private dining is available for parties up to 36. Hildebrand has commissioned renowned artist Todd Murphy to create an over-sized painting that will hang in the dining room. Floors are polished cement along the perimeter, wood on the inset. Hildebrand’s goal at the end of the day: to merge white tablecloth food and service with a casual, interactive dining experience. “Dining that is not so precious,” he says. The exterior sets the stage for what you can expect inside and on the menu. Attention to detail continues outdoors with a “skin” of corrugated metal, surrounded by green organic space designed by The Office of James Burnett, the same firm that designed Brochstein Pavilion at Rice University. “They’re known for creating landscapes that evoke emotional responses and for creating unique and unforgettable sensory experiences,” says Hildebrand. “Their landscape design is the perfect complement for the architectural character of Triniti.” Upon arrival, patrons will note an extensive chef’s garden. Trees and three water features will line the 40-seat patio to create an intimate setting. “With Triniti, we’re truly blessed to be able to express our creative best,” says Hildebrand.
