The Harvard Club of Boston's mission is to encourage the social, intellectual and athletic interests of our members, to promote the welfare of Harvard University, to assist students with financial aid, and to foster the Harvard Spirit in all Harvard men and women.
The Harvard Club of Boston is a private social club located in Boston, Massachusetts. Its membership is restricted to alumni and associates of Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University, and Yale University. It has two clubhouses, a Back Bay clubhouse located in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, at 374 Commonwealth Avenue, and a Downtown clubhouse on the top floor of One Federal Street, in Boston's Financial District.HistoryThe Harvard Club was founded by a group of 22 Harvard alumni in 1908. The original dues were $5.00 per year, and by the end of the year, more than 1,200 members had joined. The first president, Henry Lee Higginson, was also the founder of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1909, the Club established its first scholarships. One of the first recipients of these scholarships, James Bryant Conant, went on to become the 23rd president of Harvard. Famous people to have spoken at the Club include Vice President Dick Cheney, Eleanor Roosevelt, Henry Kissinger, William Taft, Robert Frost, Buckminster Fuller and John Foster Dulles. In 1913, the Club decided to construct a clubhouse, the Back Bay Clubhouse at 374 Commonwealth Avenue. In 1925, eight squash courts were built. During World War II, cots were placed in these courts and lodging was offered to military officers at the cost of $1.50 per night. In 1976, the Downtown clubhouse was purchased at One Federal Street, providing a location more convenient to most of Boston's offices.
The Boston Architectural College (BAC) is an independent, professional college in Boston's Back Bay that provides an exceptional design education by combining academic learning with innovative experiential learning and by making its programs accessible to diverse communities. The College offers professional and accredited graduate and undergraduate degrees in architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture, and design studies. The core of the BAC experience is a unique learning model where design education happens in the classroom and in the professional workplace simultaneously. Students acquire vital professional skills and expertise through hands-on projects and real-world employment while attending their classes and studios onsite or online, earning credit and gaining experience in both settings. Founded in 1889 as a club for practicing architects, the BAC has remained closely tied to Boston's professional design community throughout its history. Students are taught, mentored, and advised by over 400 practicing professionals, strengthening the connection between workplace experience and classroom learning. BAC graduates are accomplished designers with impressive resumes, portfolios, and professional networks. The BAC is located in the heart of Boston's historic Back Bay, surrounded by inspiring architecture, museums, performance venues, and colleges and universities, making it a strategic place to study design. Alongside its traditional onsite programs, the BAC offers innovative distance graduate degrees in architecture, interior architecture, and design studies, including pioneering programs in sustainable design, historic preservation, and design for human health. The BAC strives to make the design professions accessible to diverse communities. Its policy of open admission makes a design education possible for many talented students who would not otherwise be afforded such an opportunity. Its student body includes a large population of first-generation college students as well as members of under-represented groups, fostering a rich and inclusive learning environment.
What's up? So, you're Catholic (or you're at least interested enough to come to this page) and you're wondering what it is that we have going on here. Well, here's a short list: Every Wednesday @ 7:30 pm we have our weekly meeting called NULife. We have Mass at the Fenway Center every Sunday at 12:30 pm. Confession is available after ever Sunday Mass, and for 1 hour before NULife on Wednesdays at the Catholic Center (68 St. Stephen St.) We host and facilitate many social events, service opportunities and events for both men and women. Bayridge is much more than a dorm or a housing facility. The serious study atmosphere allows students to excel in their chosen degree, while the family atmosphere gives everyone a place to call home. In addition, residents are welcome to participate in a variety of cultural activities offered by the Cultural Center. The residence and cultural center are open to women of all nationalities, creeds, and ethnic backgrounds. The activities of spiritual formation offered at Bayridge are entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. http://www.opusdei.org/
The Student Activities Center is the hub of student engagement at Berklee College of Music. In the Lounge, students can chill out, play ping-pong or pool, watch TV, or just lose themselves in conversation with friends. The Front Desk provides information on life at Berklee, regular programming to inspire creativity and fun, and discounts that encourage students to take advantage of all Boston has to offer. HOURS: The Student Activities Center will close early on Friday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m. and re-open at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2. Wellness is an active process that allows people to make positive choices in creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It includes a positive approach to life and health that helps to maximize the individual's potential. A personal wellness lifestyle is associated with good physical health, emotional and spiritual stability, improved personal relationships, as well as increased satisfaction and joy. Charles B. Corbin of Arizona State University gives this definition of wellness: “Wellness is a multidimensional state of being describing the existence of positive health in an individual as exemplified by quality of life and a sense of well-being.” Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence. Process means that improvement is always possible Aware means that we are continuously seeking more information about how we can improve. Choices means that we consider a variety of options and select those in our best interest. Success is determined by each individual to be their collection of life accomplishments. LiveWell is Berklee’s wellness and health promotion program designed for the student musician. Serving as a web of support for the student throughout his or her time studying at Berklee, LiveWell provides information to the many wellness offerings available on and around campus as well as supports special wellness programs.
In October 1963, MIT changed radically with the opening of McCormick Hall. This beloved home of now thousands of MIT women will be 50 years old in the fall of 2013. To mark this significant occasion, current residents and alumna will host a celebration in McCormick on Saturday, October 5th, with small group gatherings on Sunday, October 6th. MARK THESE DATES ON YOUR CALENDAR AND PLAN TO ATTEND! You won't want to miss the celebration. Before McCormick opened, the entering class was limited to 17 women, out of a class of 1100! Entering classes are now nearly 50% women. MIT has changed for the better and McCormick has been part of that improvement. Our October celebration will provide opportunities to reconnect with those you lived with in McCormick, as well as meet women from other generations to learn about their experiences at MIT and beyond. Plans include a panel with notable McCormick alumnae, tours of McCormick, a celebration of Katharine Dexter McCormick and her impact, a grand dinner and lots of fun. The Division of Student Affairs was originally known as the Office of the Dean of Students. The first dean was Harold Wesley Melvin, who served from the office's inception in 1930 until 1957. In the 1950s, the office comprised a dean of freshmen, dean of women, and dean of men. In 1970, the Office of Dean of Students was reorganized into the Division of Student Affairs, and many of the tasks that had originally been handled directly by the dean and his assistants were separated into departments that reported to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

While some brothers live 30 minutes away in the suburbs of Newton, our members hail from countries all over the world, from Chile to Japan to Peru to Tanzania. We revel in our similarities and celebrate our differences. We see each other as individuals while recognizing we are all part of something greater than ourselves. Our differences drive our culture and our unity shapes us into leaders with a strong fraternity presence on campus. Hanging out in Boston on a Friday night, engaging in random midnight philosophical conversations, we learn about one another, our culture, values, perspectives, and consequently more about ourselves. Each member looks out for one another so that at any time, they are available. From the diverse brotherhood then inevitably emerges a family, each member offering his own distinct contribution to the House. A fraternity built on the ideals of Friendship, Sound Learning, and Moral Rectitude (our 3 Cardinal Principles) and sustained through time by a reverence to its history and respect for the brotherhood, we at Phi Delts call upon our members to seek challenges, cultivate interests, and go far in life.
