Edward J. Sparling, the president of Central YMCA College in Chicago, refused to provide his board with the demographic data of the student body, fearing the board would develop a quota system to limit the number of African Americans, Jews, immigrants, and women at the school. As a result, Sparling resigned under protest. When he left, he took with him a number of faculty and students, to start a new college. Faculty voted in favor 62 to 1, and students 488 to 2 for the school. In the beginning, the university had no library, campus, or endowment.

The Roosevelt University Library is the crossroads of the University where discovery and learning lead to student success. The libraries are places of teaching and learning, where the Roosevelt community uses, creates, produces and shares knowledge. We offer individual research help for all members of the Roosevelt community through a variety of channels – in-person, telephone, instant-messaging and video chat. We also provide research instruction for classes across the disciplines where students are taught to develop research strategies, improve their skills in utilizing research tools and think critically about information and data. Whether it be through our virtual or in-person presence, the library is committed to creating an environment of dignity and respect for all library users. The library facilitates ease of access locally to 240,000 volumes and more than 80,000 print and online journal titles. The Performing Arts Library offers resources in music, theatre, and dance. Additionally, students and faculty have access to the collections of over 80 academic libraries in the state of Illinois through the I-Share service. Items can be requested through the online RU catalog to be delivered to either the Murray-Green Library or the Schaumburg Library from any of these institutions.

The Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business is part of the DePaul University Driehaus College of Business, a business school located in the Chicago Loop, Illinois, United States. The Driehaus College of Business (called the College of Commerce until 2012) was founded in 1912 and is one of the ten oldest and most respected business schools in the U.S. The school is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-International. In the fall of 2012, Kellstadt enrolled 2,107 students.HistoryDePaul’s College of Commerce began offering business classes in January 1913, becoming one of the 10 oldest business schools in the nation and the first at a U.S. Roman Catholic university. The college established a master of business administration program in 1948 and launched the Graduate School of Business. The college, including the Graduate School of Business, moved to its current Chicago location in the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., in 1993.In 1971, Commerce established its first center, the Small Business Institute. In 1977, Commerce began offering graduate classes at the university’s suburban sites. DC Stage Manager: Chris Vinopal Stage and equipment reservations can be made in the office. They must be made at least 48 hours in advance, but no more than 30 days prior. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. You must be enrolled in a Digital Cinema class to make any reservations. On the lighting stage you must wear closed toed shoes. Equipment must be reserved prior to your reservation on the stage and you must only use your reserved equipment. Booties provided by the stage must be worn when on the green screen. Penalties: Any student who fails to return equipment on time, or fails to follow any Stage policies may be fined as follows First Violation: Warning Second Violation: $50 Each Successive Violation: $100 Any missing or damaged equipment must be paid in full within 7 days.

Noted musicians who played at the Friar's Inn included Frank Teschemacher, Bud Freeman, Steve Brown, George Brunies, Merritt Brunies, Emmett Hardy, Paul Mares, Leon Roppolo, Bee Palmer, Louis 'Lou' Black, and Mel Stitzel. Joan Crawford worked as a dancer at the Friar's Inn early in her career.
