OUR PHILOSOPHY: Through community outreach programs, Project Raise The Roof promotes home ownership, entrepreneurship, and community gardens in all areas of St. Louis City. PRTR is focused on raising the standard of living for St. Louis citizens by encouraging economic strength, affordable homes, and building neighborhood solidarity. We believe that direct access to information and opportunity can bring true progress to the City. OUR PROGRAMS: "Housekeeper" - For many St. Louis City residents who are a mere three years behind on property taxes, the LRA (Land Reutilization Authority) can seize the property and evict its owners. Each year, hundreds of St. Louis families face losing their homes. We work with City homeowners and businesses who owe delinquent property taxes to prevent their homes from becoming property of the LRA. "Welcome Home" - Many City residents would like to break the rent cycle and have the opportunity to own their own home for a low monthly cost. We offer no credit check zero-interest financing on home purchases to give economically disadvantaged families a chance to become home owners for under $9,000. "Home-Grown" - We are committed to supplementing urban families' existing food resources with long-term sustainable options. We offer City residents with a plot of unused vacant land and a garden start-up kit for $25 per year to enable them to grow their own fresh, local produce. (Sponsorships available for those who cannot afford annual cost.) HOW TO GET INVOLVED: Donate A Property - Do you own a home or vacant lot you don't have the time or inclination to maintain, or just don't want anymore? You can donate it to PRTR for a tax-deduction equal to “fair market value.” Revenue Share - Provide a percentage of the funds needed for us to acquire a property, then earn that same percentage of the final sale price once the house is rehabbed by PRTR and sold at increased market value. Sponsor A Family - Make a charitable donation to Project Raise The Roof's assistance fund to help an individual or family make payments on their taxes. Become A Volunteer - Help us spread the word by folding/passing out brochures, teach a class or workshop, or assist us in any number of ways. We always appreciate our volunteers! THE ORGANIZATION FOR BLACK STRUGGLE was founded in 1980 by activists,students, union organizers and other community members in order to fill a vacuum left by the assaults on the Black Power Movement. OUR VISION: To contribute to the creation of a society free of all forms of exploitation and oppression. OUR PROGRAM: Our program is based upon the Black Freedom Agenda that was introduced at the founding of the Black Radical Congress in 1998 and ratified in 1999. 1. We will fight for the human rights of Black people and all people. 2. We will fight for political democracy. 3. We will fight to advance beyond capitalism, which has demonstrated its structural incapacity to address basic human needs worldwide and, in particular, the needs of Black people. 4. We will fight to end the super-exploitation of Southern workers. 5. We will struggle to ensure that all people in society receive free public education. 6. We will struggle against state terrorism. 7. We will struggle for a clean and healthy environment. 8. We will fight to abolish police brutality, unwarranted incarceration and the death penalty. 9. We will fight for gender equality, for women’s liberation, and for women’s rights to be recognized as human rights in all areas of personal, social, economic and political life. 10. We will fight to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are recognized and respected as full and equal members of society, and of our communities. 11. We support affirmative action. 12. We will fight for reparations. 13. We will struggle to build multicultural solidarity and alliances among all people of color. 14. We will uphold the right of the African American people to self-determination. 15. We support the liberation struggles of all oppressed people.

Workshops such as: •Being Your Own CEO – the importance of education •Professional Development – interviewing skills and resume building •Emotional Intelligence – managing stress, dealing with anger effectively, etc. •Health & Wellness – work/life balance, exercise and proper diet •Social & Dinner Etiquette – personal and media do’s & don’ts •Importance of Community Involvement This is the NEW movement!
