Sotafest is an outdoor festival in a long, storied tradition of great summertime events here in the Twin Cities created for and by the people. In collaboration with Parks for People, a non-profit organization within the park and rec board. Our goal is to raise money annually to sustain park activities and grant scholarships for unique and diverse programs throughout the year. Within that goal, create a fun, stimulating atmosphere for all in one of our parks under the sun.

Hosts Allison Broeren (Rockstar Storyteller, Slam Master of Poetry and Story SlamMN!) and Duck Washington (Local Twin Cities acting darling and Fringe Fav) began The Encyclopedia Show Minneapolis. Together, they have dared to bridge the gaps between storytelling, poetry, theatre, improv, belly-dancing and stand-up comedy. The Encyclopedia Show is a live variety extravaganza that commissions local and touring artists and experts from all the performance disciplines to activate their individual talents to present a different verbal encyclopedia entry each month. The Encyclopedia Show endeavors to build an age-integrated, non-competitive performance community cultivating accidental knowledge and irreverent loving kindness. Though the show is accredited by The Institute of Human Knowledge and Hygiene, it is our ongoing mission to chafe against logic and proof and find meaning in obfuscation. Started in the minds of poets Robbie Q. Telfer and Shanny Jean Maney-Magnusson in Chicago, Illinois, The Encyclopedia Show has spread across the United States and the globe to share a passion for embodied and enjoyed learning. Thru exhibitions ,sales, and events Gallery13 supports Minnesota Artists, first and for most in addition to artist in the Upper Midwest and the Region The artists of Minneapolis and the Midwest region are primary to Gallery13's mission which is to exhibit a wide range of contemporary work. We pay special attention to both emerging artists, regardless of age, with a strong emphasis on new media and experimental works. Gallery13 exhibits a broad and diverse range of art, while keeping our schedule and roster open for artists whose work may not be shown in other galleries. We offer 2 flexible exhibition spaces totaling 6500-square-feet with large picture windows facing on LaSalle Ave. Our Projects space is 2300 Sq. feet with the main Gallery space at 4200 sq. feet, perfect for exhibitions of contemporary art and for for a wide range of private functions. Gallery13 is a flexible meeting and event space and we sincerely hope that you will consider us for your next function, event, art and or music performance, wedding, corporate and or professional arts event or meeting. We offer L.A. industrial Gallery charm ( if you want to call it that) -mid 70s to mid 80's industrial chick, which includes rustic , industrial concrete floors , exposed ceilings, with exhibition lighting through out the gallery all make a wonderful, alternative, gallery atmosphere. We have held events for : Aveda, Purina, What If Innovations, NY , Fallon MN , Planningness 2011 ( national branding and social marketing symposium, Soft Choice Mobile Computing TEST DRIVE EVENT' which included : Apple, Dell. Black Hearts Ball is a glamorous black & white formal event celebrating Art, Design and Performance in the Twin Cities. In partnership with the American Swedish Institute, presented by TIM+THOM, this is a 21+ event, welcoming all fans of fashion & opera. Seven Minneapolis Designers paired with local operatic and classical musicians present an elevated cocktail party showcasing Minnesota artists in fashion and design. 7:00 - VIP’s are invited to join the designers and musicians for a private performance and cocktail hour. General Admission doors will open at 8:00. Enjoy the timeless beauty and prestige of the Nobel Prize, as you experience the intrigue of rich, bold colors and lavish designs.
