The Ziggurat is a ten-story, stepped pyramidal office building and adjacent five-story concrete parking structure located at 707 3rd Street in West Sacramento, California, on the shore of the Sacramento River. Designed by Sacramento architect Edwin Kado to resemble the ancient Mesopotamian ziggurats, the building was built by the Money Store in 1997 and is currently leased by the California Department of General Services (DGS) as its headquarters since 2001.Located on more than 7acre adjacent to the Tower Bridge, the unusually designed office building contains more than 320000sqft of usable office area.ArchitectureArchitect Edwin Kado describes the building as follows: "I originally designed a building that cantilevered toward the river, so it was like a pyramid upside down. It was 12 stories, and so when you got to the top floor, it was 120 feet toward the river. When I presented it to the president of the Money Store, he thought it was interesting, but he wanted a symmetrical building... I suggested this shape...because that shape connotes stability, and I thought it would be a good image for the Money Store."Structure and exteriorThe structure of the building is a standard column and beam steel superstructure, set upon a pre-stressed concrete pile foundation system. The structural steel is designed to resist a seismic event of up to 6.9 on the Richter scale, an extremely high standard for the Sacramento area. The exterior skin of the building consists of Minnesota Gray Buff limestone panels. Each panel weighs over four tons.

This is the Official Facebook page for the California Department of Conservation. With a team of scientists and other dedicated professionals, the Department of Conservation administers a variety of programs vital to California's public safety, environment and economy. The services DOC provides are designed to balance today's needs with tomorrow's obligations by fostering the wise use and conservation of energy, land and mineral resources. Division of Land Resource Protection (DLRP) The Department of Conservation administers or supports a number of programs designed to promote orderly growth in coordination with agricultural endeavors. This is a crucial job: The population of California is expected to grow from its current 34 million to 50 million by 2025, and the need for new homes will put strain on the nation's leading agricultural economy. Key DOC tools available for land conservation planning are conservation easement grants, tax incentives to keep land in agriculture or open space, and farmland mapping and monitoring. Office of Mine Reclamation (OMR) The reclamation of mining land wasn't addressed in state law before 1975. The Surface Mining and Reclamation Act is the link between producing the mineral products important to California and protecting the environment. Under SMARA, every mining operation must have a permit to mine, an approved reclamation plan (the mined land must be restored or altered to a condition agreed upon prior to mining), and a sound financial ability to ensure reclamation. California Geological Survey (CGS) In the United States, only Alaska experiences more earthquakes than California. Scientists from DOC gather data on earthquakes and map earthquake faults and related hazards. This information is used to make buildings and structures that are better able to withstand earthquakes, minimizing loss of life and property damage. In addition, the Mineral Resources Program gathers, analyzes and distributes information on the state's mineral resources to help prevent valuable mineral deposits from being lost. Division of Oil, Gas & Geothermal (DOGGR) DOC ensures the safe exploration and development of energy resources. It oversees the construction, operation and closure of oil, gas and geothermal wells, an important step in guarding drinking and agricultural waters against pollution. DOC also is the clearinghouse for information about the state's oil, gas and geothermal industry, with more than 170,000 well records, production and injection statistics, well logs and field maps. State Mining & Geology Board (SMGB) The State Mining and Geology Board operates within the Department of Conservation, and is granted certain autonomous responsibilities and obligations under several statutes. The board's general authority requires all nine board members to "represent the general public interest." The board serves as a regulatory, policy and appeals body representing the state's interest in geology, geologic and seismologic hazards, conservation of mineral resources, and reclamation following surface mining activities.

Vision: Caring today for a safe and healthy tomorrow. Mission: Providing evaluation and treatment in a safe and responsible manner, seeking innovation and excellence in hospital operations, across a continuum of care and settings. Goals: Safe environment. Responsible stewardship. Excellence in forensic evaluation. Excellence in treatment. Who are our patients? Most patients in state hospitals are mandated for treatment by a criminal court judge. Up to 90 percent of our patients were sent to us through the criminal court system and have committed or have been accused of committing a crime linked to their mental illness. The remainder of the department’s patient population has been committed in civil court because they are a danger to themselves or others. These patients commonly referred to as Lanterman-Petris-Short commitments, can be held 72 hours for mental health evaluation and treatment. Department of State Hospitals Facebook Policy and Practices Thank you for being a fan of the Department of State Hospitals on Facebook. The department participates in Facebook in order to inform members of the public about the work that is being done every day inside of state hospitals. We believe our work is important to the people of California and this page will offer a glimpse into the difficult and necessary jobs that our employees do every single day of the year. We welcome people to use this venue as a space on the intranet to have discussions about mental health in a respectful manner. However, because we are a hospital system, the Department of State Hospitals must always protect the personal privacy of all of our 6,000 patients. These rights are outlined in both federal and state laws. The Department of State Hospitals does not necessarily agree with or endorse every comment that individuals post on our pages. Our goal is to share ideas and information. All comments and posts to this page will be reviewed. The department will use its own discretion on whether or not a comment will be shared.
