LACUNA LOFTS IS…. LACUNA LOFTS is the Premier, upscale, trendy loft work-space, and is the newest addition to the growing artist community located in the Pilsen Art District. Jos-Cacciatore & Co. transformed LACUNA from raw open-space, into a jaw-dropping vision, which is unlike any other. LACUNA, conveniently located at 2150 S. Canalport, is situated in what was once the world’s largest macaroni factory. Housed within the 250,000+ sqft warehouse facility, LACUNA Tenants occupy the 2nd thru the 5th floor, with additional event space on the 1st floor and throughout the building. In addition, by being centrally located, LACUNA renders itself to the entire Loop Area with close highway access. It is also coined as the premiere event space in Chicago by offering various rental accommodations for weddings, socials, meetings, networking, celebrity focused events and more!

The recipes we have been enjoyed since we were children are now showcased with pride. Por Ejemplo, if you’re tasting our Mole Poblano, a savory chocolate based sauce made with 20 different ingredients, you’re literally tasting my Grandmother's closely guarded recipe. The rich cucumber salsa enjoyed with your Pozole, or freshly made tortilla chips, is my mother’s recipe and a local favorite. Our Coctel de Camaron (shrimp cocktail) is a special one, reluctantly shared by my Suegra (mother -in-law) and originates from her native Tecoman, the Mexican coastal village of Colima, where she charmed the recipe from a local fishmonger as a young child. Our goal is to share all this knowledge with everyone and have fun with it! Our studio is located at Mana Contemporary. Mana serves as a nexus for many of the strongest artists and organizations in the city. Artists of diverse disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, dance, film, sound, and performance work alongside each other in a novel campus environment which fosters experimentation, collaboration, and mutual inspiration. Not only you will have the experience to make a masterpiece, but you will be surrounded by the most exceptional artist's studios in Chicago.
Every month, we rotate a new emerging artist into our space to expose them to the world. Every 2nd Friday we participate in the Pilsen art walk affiliated with The Chicago Arts District. The day after that art walk we host a "Gala Event" to showcase our artists of the month and donate a percentage of the proceeds to charity organizations. A week before that we host a live art making events with 2 featured brains going head to head in a 3 hour class. Sometimes we have kids creative events and parties for people of all ages looking to have a great time inside a beautiful gallery. Sometimes we have workshops were other artists come in and teach a skill they have in our space. In our spare time we drink wine, eat clean, and laugh a lot.
The elee.mosynary gallery is an artist-run, DIY gallery in the Chicago Arts District that features and sells contemporary fine art, applied art, and showcases the performing arts. Tanya's vision was to provide an approachable art gallery with affordable contemporary art from Chicago artists whose work she admired. In 2012, Ugly Step Sister Gallery moved to a permanent location on 1750 S. Union Avenue in the core of the vibrant Pilsen East Arts District. After extensive renovation of the new space, the gallery is also very excited to have partnered with Juhl Wind to create the city's first completely wind-powered "green gallery". Mana Contemporary Chicago is a rapidly expanding art center set in an enormous landmark building in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Designed by noted Chicago architect George Nimmons, the building is now home to dozens of artists studios, exhibition spaces, classrooms, a central cafe, a library and more. Mana serves as a nexus for many of the strongest artists and organizations in the city. Artists of diverse disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, dance, film, sound, and performance work alongside each other in a novel campus environment which fosters experimentation, collaboration, and mutual inspiration. Very established artists' studios neighbor those that house strong emerging practices, as there is a wide range of studio sizes. A hub of programming and activity for the vital communities of Chicago artists, Mana Contemporary will also serve as a multi-institutional pedagogical platform, and already serves as home to art schools and organizations dedicated to educating and supporting emerging artists. Chicago’s existing art communities have informed this model, which grows organically with the development of each new floor, customizing and adapting to the needs and opportunities that make up Chicago’s creative landscape. Mana Contemporary strives to grow a vital community of Chicago artists, showcasing their practices, processes, and ideas to the public.

SUNDAY PROJECT was an artist-run project space located in the Pilsen district of Chicago, IL focused on exhibiting primarily emerging artists and connecting young artists from multiple geographies. Built in 1836 for Henry B. Clarke, the Clarke House Museum is Chicago’s oldest house. The house shows what life was like for a family in Chicago during the city’s formative years before the Civil War. Its fascinating history began at a time when Chicago received its city charter and much of the area was still undeveloped prairie. Over the years, the house survived fires, belonged to a church, and was moved twice – during the second move, the house was stuck in the air for two weeks. The house is now located in the Chicago Women’s Park in the Prairie Avenue Historic District, and operated as a museum by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, furnished through the generosity of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of Illinois. The National Veterans Art Museum, formerly the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum, located at 4041 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago's six corners neighborhood, is dedicated to displaying and studying art produced by veterans from the Vietnam War and other wars and conflicts. Originally a traveling exhibition, while in Chicago it was viewed by Mayor Richard M. Daley, who was so taken by the power of the art that he immediately insisted that the city provide a permanent home for it. The entrance hall had 58,226 dog tags hanging from the ceiling, representing the US soldiers who died in Vietnam. It and the other exhibits have been described as deeply moving.HistoryThe National Veterans Art Museum is the result of efforts of the Vietnam Veterans Art Group, formed in 1981. The group built a following almost immediately after their first show, Vietnam: Reflexes and Reflections, which opened in October 1981. With increasing popularity and press, the Group grew; veterans from all over the United States began to send in work to be displayed. In 1996 the Vietnam Veterans Art Group established a museum, the only one of its kind at 1801 S. Indiana Ave in Chicago's South Loop.MissionThe museum's mission is to inspire greater understanding of the impact of war through the collection, preservation, and exhibition of art created by veterans of all U.S. military conflicts. The museum displays military and artistic heritage, helping civilians and veterans make connections across diverse ranges of experience. With nearly 2,500 works of art by more than 250 artists, the museum offers visitors of all ages and backgrounds insight into war from the viewpoint of people who were physically and emotionally involved in military conflicts. In addition, the museum provides an artistic outlet for veterans to work through and express their combat and military service experiences.
