Descending the stairs into Lucky's is like stepping through a portal into a swinging hipster lounge straight out of the '50s. Dim red lighting washes a rowdy vinyl-upholstered dining room, which is separate from the long narrow bar. The current incarnation of Rowes Wharf is a modern development in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. It is best known for the Boston Harbor Hotel's multi-story arch over the wide public plaza between Atlantic Avenue and the Boston Harbor waterfront. Along the waterfront can be found a marina, restaurants, a water transportation terminal, and a floating stage offering free concerts and movies during the summer.MBTA boat services link the wharf to Hingham, while water taxis operate to and from Logan International Airport. Cruise boats also operate from the wharf.History18th centuryIn 1666 a protective battery called the "Sconce", or the "South Battery", was built at the foot of Fort Hill in the area now known as Rowes Wharf. In peacetime, the Battery had a company assigned to it in case of invasion, but had only one gunner. During the 1740s, the Battery was extended into the harbor and was defended by thirty-five guns. In 1764, John Rowe bought the land and built the first Rowes Wharf, which extended a short distance into Boston Harbor, and in 1765 Foster's Wharf was built on the site of the old Battery.Foster's Wharf was originally called "Apthorp's Wharf". Charles Apthorp, being a staunch Tory, backed the losing side in the American Revolution, and it was his confiscated land and wharf that merchant William Foster bought for 6,266 pounds, 12 shillings in May 1782. Rowes Wharf, however, has carried its original builder's name since its inception. For the next 150 years or so, commercial shipping continued to be a main user of the area.

The Boston Harbor Latin Cruises have been the most anticipated entertainment of the summer since 2003. Nothing compares to this three level party on the water. The top floor is a peaceful outdoor deck with stunning skyline views of the city and sunset. There is Latin dancing on two floors and the boat features a full cash bar. Traditional delicious Latin food is available for only $12 a plate in advance ($14 at the dock) and includes slow roasted pork, rice and beans, chicken and vegetables and salad. The Friday cruises are 21+, the Sunday cruises are all ages. Tickets can be purchased online or at a ticket outlet for $25 in advance or at the dock for $30. The 4th of July tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the dock. Boarding begins at 7:00/7:30, please do not be late! We depart at 8:00 on the dot, no exceptions. The boat returns to the harbor at 10:30 and from there everyone heads to Mojitos. The first 100 people to arrive at Mojitos with their cruise ticket stub will receive free admission to Mojitos. The party continues until 2:00.
