The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) is public research university located in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Established in 1963, it is one of four universities in the University of Missouri System and its newest., it is the largest university by enrollment in the St. Louis area with 16,809 students. UMSL's campus is located on the former grounds of the Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis County, in the U.S. state of Missouri, stretching into the municipalities of Bellerive, Bel-Nor and Normandy. However, the campus's mailing address says St. Louis City. Additional facilities are located at the former site of Marillac College and at Grand Center, both in St. Louis city.Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral programs are offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Administration, the College of Education, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, the College of Nursing, and the College of Optometry. The business school is AACSB-accredited and is the only university in the St. Louis area to also be AACSB-accredited in accounting. Preprofessional, a joint engineering program with Washington University in St. Louis, and evening programs are also offered. UMSL is home of an optometry school, providing its students with a doctorate (OD). Only 17 optometry schools exist in all of North America including Puerto Rico. The Pierre Laclede Honors College is UMSL's honors program.

The Millennium Student Center opened in Fall 2000. Constructed of red brick and stone, the Center features a dramatic three-story rotunda, escalator and fireplace. The building is connected to the North Campus Quad, between Lucas and Clark halls, by an enclosed climate-controlled pedestrian bridge that spans a valley that in time will host a series of attached lakes. Student-related services, previously scattered about the campus, are now under one roof providing students with a "one-stop shopping" experience. The Center also houses the bookstore, food services, two student lounges, a conference center, and a bank.

Barnes Library which houses the materials of relevance to the nursing, education and optometry programs, and the St. Louis Mercantile Library which was founded in 1846 and is the oldest library west of the Mississippi River. The campus contains two stops on MetroLink, St. Louis' regional light rail system. A student center, academic buildings, parking structures, a performing arts center, and residential housing have been constructed over the past ten years as part of campus improvement programs. The University has a dual-enrollment agreement with Gulf University for Science and Technology, Kuwait. The University owns and operates St. Louis Public Radio.

The Recreation and Wellness Center provides approximately 100,000 square feet of space for open recreation, intramural sports, and wellness education. This is currently a new student group at UMSL and we are looking for any new ideas to help the organization keep growing. The purpose of this organization is to raise awareness about the Hispanic community and increase cultural understanding on campus and the greater community. Our goal is to organize educational and social events that will further the understanding of the Hispanic culture.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis Alumni Association boasts more than 70,000 members living in all 50 states and more than 60 countries. The UMSL Alumni Relations Office raises critical funds to provide scholarships, support academic programs and strengthen community partnerships as well as to help alumni maintain the associations, friendships and interests they formed as students at UMSL. Our alumni continue to achieve successful and significant employment after graduation, and each member of our alumni association exerts a positive impact on the St. Louis region. Our Alumni Association is made up of several chapters and committees, including a student component that serves as our Student Alumni Association, STAT (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow). The Community Relations component of the UMSL alumni association is forming partnerships and building relationships with surrounding communities, businesses, elected officials, and police and fire departments. Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center (formerly the International Center for Tropical Ecology) Whitney R. Harris was a founding member of the Development Board of the International Center for Tropical Ecology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and through a generous gift in 2006, the Center was renamed the Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center. Whitney Harris, since his involvement with the Nuremberg Trials in 1946, strived to promote peace and harmony among all peoples. In doing this he recognized the importance of the global environment in human well-being and promoted conservation of the natural world through public education. His generosity and vision in establishing the Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center will encourage conservation of tropical and temperate ecosystems and will support the Centers mission in educating the next generation of ecologists at a time when the conservation and the wise use of natural resources is of paramount importance. The Writing Studio is staffed by screened and trained undergraduate students who engage students in conversation, help them brainstorm topics, create outlines, round out first drafts, and revise complete drafts. Tutors will also focus on organizational strategies, supporting detail, and clarity. Tutors may also counsel students on sentence structure, word choice, and grammar.
