One night charity event where 15 restaurants cook up their best burgers as they compete for your vote and the judges vote. Attendees get to sample all burgers, desserts, complimentary tastings of craft beers, wines, ciders and soft drinks and enjoy live music on the baseball field. Named after the locomotives that once rumbled down R Street, Iron Horse Tavern features a style that interweaves the area’s industrial heritage with sleek international touches. Reclaimed wood and hexagonal tile constituting the floors in the dining room and bar. The bar itself will feature a black anodized steel facing and pounded copper top with blown glass light fixtures and a model locomotive perched beneath the antique tin ceiling. Three booths, including one with a fireplace, will line one side of the bar space. Iron Horse’s glass doors, meanwhile, will open onto the surrounding patio, where guests can dine and drink alfresco. Iron Horse reflects the latest entry in restaurateurs Mason, Alan, and Curtis Wong's 10-year collaboration with Shopworks, the Napa-based design firm that has helped craft the look of Cafeteria 15L, Firestone Public House, and Mix Downtown. Executive Chef Christian Palmos will oversee the menu at Iron Horse Tavern.

While looking into Sacramento’s past, we found that the Industrial Revolution was a fundamental time of change in the region. Steam boats pumped up and down the Sacramento River, and the Nation’s first Transcontinental Railroad was nearing completion. This period of bustling commerce and innovation helped lay the foundation of our city. During the year of 1850, a series of fires destroyed much of the city of Sacramento. A volunteer group, "The Mutual Hook and Ladder Company," assembled to help rebuild and prevent future disasters. We aim to rejuvenate the historic space at 17th & S streets by celebrating this time of industry and growth. Our goal is to build upon our city commerce and contribute to Sacramento’s future. We embrace local farms, ranches, breweries and wineries in both our kitchen and our bar. We've also brought in the finest chefs, bartenders and serving staff to provide an exceptional customer experience that demonstrates our hometown pride.

Uncle Vic “Vito” came to America from Sicily in 1907. As a young man, Vito worked for his family’s dairy business making cheeses while developing a love for great pizza. In honor of Uncle Vito & inspired by the great pizzerias of New York City, Uncle Vito's Slice of NY opened in Spring 2007.
