Sargent's Daughters opened in November 2013 on New York’s Lower East Side. The gallery's focus is on contemporary art that has a strong historical lineage while challenging current aesthetic conventions. Sargent's Daughters takes its name from the painter John Singer Sargent, who was an innovator working in a traditional medium. Accordingly, the gallery interest is in artists whose work combines the same qualities of tradition and cutting edge. In addition to solo exhibitions by emerging artists and mid-career artists, the gallery programs two-person and small group exhibitions to create new conversations within the context of each artist's work. Sargent's Daughters produces artist catalogues to further the discourse of contemporary art.

Shin Gallery is a contemporary art gallery. Opened in 2013 and located in Manhattan's Lower East Side, Shin gallery is devoted to presenting a variety of modern artwork for the enjoyment of art collectors and viewers.

Damon Dash presents Poppington, his newest downtown factory. Located at 60 Orchard Street in the Lower East Side, the multi-disciplinary space provides artists, graphic designers, and musicians a place to come together and realize their creative visions. Lu Magnus is an art laboratory and salon dedicated to building a new model of what an art gallery can be. Launched in November 2010, Lu Magnus is located in the Lower East Side and activates its 18-foot ceiling space by enabling the production of cutting-edge exhibitions and building a platform for discovery, collaboration and exchange. The experience of art and the physical encounter of people and thoughts are what make Lu Magnus not just a mirror of contemporary society but an active link in the community and creator in the future. This model evolves around Lu LAB programming that is developed in close collaboration with the artists on view, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations, participatory and performative happenings, public workshops, and exhibitions that become subject to shared investigations and dialogue. The Lu LAB programming makes the gallery into a dynamic meeting place with the mission to incubate and give a platform to thought leaders. The LAB is not focusing on one professional area, but on quality of thought and building community. We invite the public into the physical space to encounter and engage in the constant exploration of how art can challenge, transform and inspire us.

[a] To create a gallery structure that invites other gallerists/curators, who do not currently have permanent spaces, to install exhibitions of their programs alongside like-minded professionals. [b] The need to create such a space, stems from the prevailing gallery business model which has become too costly with the commercial rents, production costs, and art fairs fees associated with maintaining them. [c] We are passionate about the ideas of sharing resources, collaborating, and splitting the costs of operating an art gallery. Who is 33 Orchard? Jane Kim: Jane Kim is an art dealer, gallerist, and curator based in New York. Kim's professional experience includes working at various galleries in New York City and Paris, then creating her first gallery Thrust Projects in 2005 which subsequently became Jane Kim Gallery in 2011, an online gallery for contemporary art. Her work also includes the pop-up show Swing State at the location, 119 Hester Street in NYC this past April-May 2013.

MARC STRAUS, a contemporary art gallery, opened September 2011 on the Lower Eastside in New York. January 2012 MARC STRAUS moved to its permanent location at 299 Grand Street, a fully reconstructed three-story building that began as a tenement and in the last century has housed various retail stores consistent with a changing population. Marc says, “My roots are here. This is an area now with yet another life, vital to the emerging art scene. 299 is a homecoming – it's just across the street from the textile store my immigrant father had owned and where I worked from childhood until I graduated medical school.” MARC STRAUS is a gallery that continues the tradition of its founder in identifying and fostering some of the best new international art talent. 13 artists are represented from 9 countries most of whom have not shown before in the US.

LMAKprojects was founded by Louky Keijsers Koning in 2005 and Bart Keijsers Koning joined as co-owner in 2009. The gallery's primary interest lies in the commitment to the artist's process and dedication to their thoughts and production. LMAKprojects works with artists who have proven to sustain continuity in their visual expression without being repetitive. The gallery strives to introduce collectors to new horizons through visual, sound, or conceptual experience, as well as opening communication to develop a relation between the viewer and the art. LMAKprojects is known for its exhibitions with international allure and focusing on interdisciplinary practices. LMAKprojects began operation in two New York spaces, Chelsea and Williamsburg, however, in October of 2008 it relocated to the Lower East Side (LES). The ground floor space features two levels with the first floor being solely dedicated to exhibitions, and the downstairs lower level for an office and private viewing. The new location allows for a focused program and an accessible neighborhood to welcome collectors. The gallery presents works in all media, ranging from drawing, painting, photography, video/film, and sculpture by artists from all over the world. Artistsʼ works have been acquired through LMAKprojects by such institutions as Museo del Barrio, New York; Contemporary Museum of Photography, Chicago; Guggenheim, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Philbrook Museum, Tulsa OK; Kadist Art Foundation, Paris, France and San Fransisco, US; Rhode Island Museum of Art, RI; Minneapolis Institute of Art, MN. The gallery has been reviewed in such publications as the New York Times, Art in America, Artforum, The Village Voice, the Washington Post, Modern Painters, Interview Magazine among others. LMAKprojects is a member of ArtTable. Owners/Directors Louky Keijsers Koning Bart Keijsers Koning Louky Keijsers Koning Graduated with a MA in Art History and a MA in Cultural Management from the University of Amsterdam in 2001. After a few years of managing various galleries she decided to expand her curatorial efforts and started LMAKprojects in 2005. Bart Keijsers Koning Graduated from SVA in 2000 specialized in painting, after a transfer from Columbia College Art department where he also studied Business. Prior to joining LMAKprojects in 2009 Keijsers Koning exhibited and curated in the Netherlands and the US, and managed various galleries.

MINI/Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38 is the Goethe-Institut New York’s contemporary art space, made possible with the generous support of MINI. Located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, it has provided for curatorial experimentation in the tradition of the German “Kunstverein” since 2008. Its mission is to introduce new international perspectives to the downtown art community and to foster dialogue within the aesthetic and political context of New York and the United States. Initially programmed by a different Kunstverein every year, the space was relaunched in 2011 as a residency program for young curators from Germany.
