Today, the College of Education is comprised of three academic departments and has over 19,000 alumni located throughout the world. Read about our history: The bachelor’s degree in education is the oldest professional degree at Georgia Southern, and from 1924 to 1955, the entire institution focused exclusively on preparing future teachers. With reorganization of the institution’s academic divisions in 1968, the School of Education was created to consolidate the teacher education programs. In 1990, Georgia Southern received university status, and two years later all “school” designations were changed to “college” thereby establishing the College of Education. In 1992, the College of Education initiated the university’s first doctoral program, the Doctorate of Education, which was also the first doctorate to be offered by an institution located in South Georgia. -- Georgia Southern University, a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University founded in 1906, offers 125 degree programs serving more than 20,500 students. The Wesley Foundation at Georgia Southern is an extension of the United Methodist Church reaching out to college students at Georgia Southern University, Ogeechee Technical College, and East Georgia College. Join us on Wednesday nights at 8pm for worship.

The gentlemen of the Delta Chi Fraternity at Georgia Southern University have achieved great success since returning in 2002. We have received awards such as best fraternity on campus, greek man of the year, the 4 star chapter award, and most recently, the outstanding campus involvement award. We currently boast a GPA above the all-men's GPA and all-fraternity GPA. Our brothers are heavily involved in other campus organizations such as: College Republicans, Phi Beta Lambda, Omicron Delta Kappa, Beta Beta Beta, ROTC, Gamma Beta Phi, Ducks Unlimited, and more. We are proud to have a base of 350+ alumni, many of which are still heavily involved in our chapter. In 1922, the Fraternity officially went "general", thus opening its membership to men in all areas of study. Delta Chi, in 1929, became the first fraternity to officially abolish the hazing practices associated with "hell week". At the Georgia Southern Planetarium, we aim to teach and impart excitement about space and astronomy. We provide shows for pre-k through senior citizens, and even do public evenings with star shows and telescopic observing!

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) is the largest of the eight colleges that make up Georgia Southern University, and it plays a central role in every student’s core of knowledge. University Villas is a newly renovated, freshman and upperclassmen community located on Chandler Road. Students live in two bedroom or four bedroom units arranged around a large common space that includes ample parking, a swimming pool, and a small lake.

The College of Business is one of the largest colleges on the Georgia Southern campus in terms of graduates. It draws distinctiveness from a 30-year record of continuous AACSB International accreditation for its undergraduate, graduate, and accounting programs. Logistics and accounting, especially forensic accounting, are its signature undergraduate programs. The College is a leader in online graduate education, helping to develop the original Georgia WebMBA program. The online Master of Science in Applied Economics continues to grow.
