Blue Line Lounge & Grill

Blue Line Lounge and Grill was built from the ground up in 2002. Located under the Damen Blue Line CTA “L” stop in Bucktown/Wicker Park, Blue Line Lounge and Grill was a total gut rehab. Two years of planning went into the restaurant before it was finally unveiled. As you may have guessed, Blue Line Lounge and Grill is modeled after a train car. When you step in, it’s like stepping into a train car from the 50’s! The interior is incredibly stunning from the custom curved ceiling with wood trim, art deco light fixtures, customized tiling, and a stainless steel back bar. The bar itself is one of the only bars in Chicago that features a 100% marble top! Moving through Blue Line you will find oversized cozy booths, which were all custom-made, as well as high tops that can seat parties of 2 to 10. Large plasma televisions subtlety adorn the walls and the bar. Viewing choices range from classic Black &White movies, past movie favorites, and sports/news. Recently we built a new room called the Blue Room. This room sports oversized comfortable couches made of blue-brushed custom fabric. Powder Blue Ottomans act as seats for guests sitting opposite of the couches. Classic metallic beads separate portions of the room giving it a beautiful silhouette as well as slight privacy. Six miniature plasma televisions play Black&White movies ranging from Casablanca, to An Affair to Remember, to Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Dimly lit, The Blue Room really captures the Lounge vibe of the restaurant. This room is where most of our parties are held. It will comfortably seat 25 people but will do more when guests are up and mingling. This year we opened our patio to the public. It features a 52’ Plasma Screen, which is usually playing local/regional sports as well as movies for late night. The patio will comfortably seat 30 guests and can be used for parties. Blue Line Lounge and Grill aims to serve the drinking, eating, and entertainment needs of the neighborhood. We pride ourselves on courteous service, personality, and phenomenal value. In light of the recent economic turns that have forced many to increase prices due to their increasing costs, we have gone the other way believing that more value is just what the doctor ordered. We offer a very extensive food menu, which includes loads of Bar Nosh, Salads, Sandwiches, and Entrees. Popular items are the Bucktown Salad (Mixed greens tossed in a fat free raspberry vinaigrette with candied walnuts, pears, crumbled goat cheese and dried cranberries), Flatbreads, Baked Goat Cheese, Mac and Cheese Medallions, Mini Burgers, Mini Tacos, and our 100% Kobe Beef Burger to name a few. We make a strong effort to be as “House-Made” as possible meaning that we make as much from scratch as we can. Items such as our Crab Cake Tator Tots featured in our Bar Nosh section of the menu are hand made everyday. Our House-Made marinara has made our Penne ala Vodka Pasta one of our biggest sellers. In addition, our Black Bean Burger is a House

The Chop Shop is a butcher/deli/bar/restaurant with a 6,000 square foot event space behind it named the 1st Ward. Located just west of Damen/Milwaukee on North Avenue, these three concepts bring together some of Chicago’s favorite things: encased meat, cocktails and live entertainment. About the Butcher/Deli: Housed in a 100-year-old former auto body shop, the Chop Shop's butcher/deli showcases the daily meats, chops, sausages, and antipastos available for pick up. Adjacent to the deli counter, a glass window allows guests to watch the butchers at work while they converse with the knowledgeable team on the best cuts for their home cooking. For those looking for a bite, Minelli offers an array of fresh sandwiches and salads to enjoy in house or to go. The first floor features hi-boy window seating, exposed brick, and oversized dark tufted leather booths with Chop Shop branded wood tables. The 27-seat bar, equipped with a butcher block bar top and chevron wood back splash, also has four flat-screen TVs, and 18 beers on tap. Custom swivel doors with windows allow a peek into the 1st Ward event space -- the swivel functionality allows for the entire first floor to be used as part of the event space as well. About the Restaurant/Bar: Executive Chef John Formica heads up the dinner program for the 100-seat bi-level restaurant. Seating for dinner is available in the oversized booths and bar on the first floor known as the "Butcher's Bar" with bar bites and specials, or head upstairs to the "Butcher's Brother" for a more intimate dining experience. Adjacent to the dining room is a “secret garden-style” 60-seat patio. Enclosed by four walls, and the blue Chicago sky above, it’s the perfect al fresco setting for drinks or dinner. Chop Shop's menu sources seasonal fare from local farms and the in house butcher. Menu standouts include starters like the Signature charcuterie plate (select meats and cheeses with crusty bread and homemade jams), Wilted kale salad (shaved mushrooms, soft cooked egg, balsamic vinaigrette and Parmesan cheese). Entrees include the Butcher’s burger (Butcher’s blend of ground prime cuts, grilled with aged cheddar, charred red onions, smoked bacon and CS sauce, served with fries); and affordable chops and steaks. What truly sets the Chop Shop apart is its accessibility to great cuts of meat, allowing the restaurant to offer diners steaks and chops at an affordable price. Private party space in the restaurant is available for up to 200 (1st Ward is 450). and Catering trays are available. Brunch served every weekend 11 am to 3 pm Reservations are accepted for brunch, lunch and dinner.

In its past life, Tuman’s was known as Tuman’s Tavern (aka The Alcohol Abuse Center), a Ukrainian Village dive bar with an eccentric décor and an eclectic clientele. The tavern received a much-needed facelift and was rechristened Tuman’s Tap & Grill in 2012. The sunny corner storefront now boasts booth and high-top seating with subtle nods to the tap’s dive-bar roots, from the original stained glass and wood on the back bar to the Alcohol Abuse Center signage as wall art. The seasonally rotating menu features signature selections such as Prince Edward Island mussels with Allagash White Ale and shallots, and custom-ground Slagel Family Farm burgers, including the gorgonzola burger with shallot port reduction and caramelized onions. The full-service bar features handcrafted cocktails, a well-chosen wine list, and 28 ever-changing draft lines with a focus on highly-rated local craft beers. Tuman’s Tap & Grill offers seasonal outdoor dining on a spacious dog-friendly sidewalk café (weather permitting). With a focus on freshness and quality, Arami’s cuisine is a product of traditional ingredients and forward thinking technique. Representing the culture and care taken in Japanese cuisine, Arami prides itself on bringing art and enjoyment to any night of dining. At Arami's entrance is a torii gate, traditional in Japan to mark a transition, originally found outside of shrines. It is for this reason our sake bears the name: Ichi No Torii, The First Gate. Created to pair with our entire offerings and made exclusively for Arami, this sake is produced in collaboration with Omuraya Brewery in Shizuoka, Japan. --- Arami’s interior can be described as a garden-like atmosphere, an urban retreat. Natural materials with an urban architectural feel make up the ambiance. Visitors are greeted in the front lounge, where our bar neatly displays our rare sake, wine and spirits selection. The Main dining room with vaulted skylight ceilings, streams light in the early hours on the tabletops, a mixture between bamboo and live-edge oak wood. The garden room, a smaller dining area toward the rear of the restaurant, is an atrium-like space with an abundance of foliage and Japanese wood engravings, perfect for Private Dining or quiet conversations.

Briciola, una PiccolaTrattoria Italiana Relax, dispel every thought, and let the world around you fade. In Italy we say, at the table no one grows old: “a tavola nessuno diventa vechhio.” Owner and chef, native Italian Mario Maggi, is celebrating the forty years of culinary experience that have given him the opportunity to travel the world, sharing his passion for authentic Italian cuisine. Similar to the old familiar fairytale, Chef Mario followed the metaphoric breadcrumbs where they led him during the course of his distinguished career. Having journeyed from Milan to Tokyo, St. Petersburg to San Francisco, Milwaukee to Mexico City, he has once again returned to Chicago, a city that continually beckons. It was the realization of this destiny that inspired him to open La Briciola, which means “breadcrumbs.” Because dining in Italy is an occasion for friends and family to gather around the table and break bread together, the name seemed to be the perfect invitation for his own authentic trattoria. For those seeking a taste of Italy, Chef Mario has created a distinctive menu that offers an extensive range of guiltless delights which awaken the palette as well as the imagination. While committed to maintaining the integrity of classic Italian cuisine, his dishes are a unique interpretation of history and tradition. In addition, Chef Mario enjoys presenting his own signature creations in order to bring into play the best of what the season, the week, or even a particular day has to offer. His promise is that those who choose to break bread at La Briciola will enjoy a comfortable table away from home while time stands still. And, of course, he hopes the “breadcrumbs” will lead friends and families back to his piccola trattoria Italiana, to experience the “the Maggi-c.”
