We toast creativity. Ink Lounge is a small creative studio, located just south of downtown Denver, where we design, screenprint and teach others to screenprint too. This tasty studio is a mix of several ingredients: our passion for graphic design - our inspiration to make things by hand - our desire to work with and help other people. From branding and design for businesses and organizations, to illustrating and screenprinting art prints (or screenprinting art prints for others) to teaching a group of kids { or adults } to screenprint, no one day is typical - but the results of our work is. Good stuff for what you need all blended together in one studio.
The Denver based Hannah Kahn Dance Company was formed in 1992. The New York based company was established in 1976 and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts. The current Colorado company receives funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, the Denver Foundation, and the Denver Ballet Guild. Each year the Company performs its interactive and educational school show How To Build a Dance for thousands of children in Denver, Arapahoe, Jefferson, and Adams counties. We have successfully been offering intensive residencies in public schools for more than a decade. These residencies include workshops during regular schools hours and continue with after school rehearsals for a piece of choreography set on a group of students by a company member. These residencies culminate in a joint performance at the school by the Company and the students. We also perform in day treatment centers for people with disabilities, at nursing homes, and at resident treatment centers for troubled teens. The Company holds three modern dance technique classes each week on an ongoing basis at its home base, Open Studio, in Denver’s Historic Baker neighborhood. See our classes page for more information. Hannah Kahn, founder and artistic director of the Hannah Kahn Dance Company, is a master teacher with thirty-five years experience creating over one hundred dances. Some of the strongest influences on her choreography were her childhood classes in Ithaca, New York with Iris Barbura, her studies of the techniques of Jose Limon and Martha Graham, and her performances of dances by Doris Humphrey and Anna Sokolow. The practice of Tai Chi has also influenced her movement style. After graduating from the Julliard School, Kahn founded the Company in New York, and directed it there for twelve years before moving to Colorado in 1988. Kahn has received two NEA choreography fellowships, a New York State Council on the Arts individual choreographers fellowship and a CoVisions Recognition Award in dance choreography from the Colorado Council on the Arts. In 2009, Hannah was honored as a “Living Legend of Dance” by the Carson Brierly Dance Library. An award that honors those individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to dance in Colorado. In addition to her own company, her works have been in the repertories of over a dozen other dance companies and she yearly re stages her work on the budding artists of the Denver School of the Arts.
MUTINY INFORMATION CAFE PRESENTS MILE HIGH PARLEY 2016 Parley (/ˈpɑrli/) is a discussion or conference, especially one between enemies over terms of a truce or other matters. Beginning in the High Middle Ages with the expansion of monarchs, a parley, or "talk", was a meeting held between kings and their Chief Retainers. Parleys were part of the many changes in Europe, especially regarding governments. These meetings can be attributed to the formation of parliaments, which are derived from a similar root, parliamentum, simply meaning "talking". The internationally recognized symbol for offering parley is a black flag, particularly in the context of shipping. For example a ship at war wishing to enter parley with its attackers may raise a black flag to indicate this. Welcome to Mile High Parley 2016 - A 3 day festival created as a true celebration of Denver’s rich art and music scene. Mile High Parley is a free event that exclusively features all local bands, businesses, non-profits and artists in an all ages environment . Mutiny Information Café at 2 South Broadway in the heart of Denver’s Baker neighborhood will be raising the Black Flags July 29th, 30th and 31st. 2016 during one of Denver’s finest music festivals, the Denver Post Underground Music Showcase (UMS). 2014 and 2015 saw thousands of people enjoy our strictly local festival and we expect this year to be even bigger. This year Mile High Parley will feature 2 stages-a large main stage in the back of Mutiny, and one inside Mutiny towards the front of the shop, hosting smaller acts so we can accommodate the over 40 acts booked. Outside we will have various vendors along Ellsworth from Broadway to Nooch. It is our aim to make the Mutiny Parley an annual edutainment resource, promoting community involvement in a fun, entertaining and creative environment. This is a FREE event, that is open to all ages. Thanks to: Joshua Finley - Poster Christopher Hosey - Video
