Each year, The Diversity Center reaches approximately 10,000 individuals that we serve directly through our onsite programs, outreach and education events, our work with school-based Gay/Straight Alliances, and our Triangle Speakers program. We fulfill our mission to enhance the lives and promote fairness for LGBTQ+ people by: > Developing LGBTQ+ youth leaders in local middle and high schools, who help teach acceptance and promote positive LGBTQ+ messages to their peers > Creating connections, building community, and reducing isolation among LGBTQ+ seniors, veterans, youth, and the Latinx community > Teaching acceptance and providing support for transgender individuals > Educating the community at-large about key legislative issues that impact LGBTQ+ rights and equality The Diversity Center is the only fully staffed LGBTQ+ Community Center on the Central Coast of California, and while our services are directed at Santa Cruz County residents, we have people from all over Northern California — from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo — who benefit from our services and attend our events. We teach a classical realist study based on 19th century academic french ateliers and renaissance workshops in academic drawing, sculpture and painting. If you love working from nature with the figure, portrait, landscape, and still life you will want to be apart of our studio where working professionals with an intensive academic training from the Florence Academy of Art.

Nonviolent Communication Santa Cruz provides opportunities to learn lifelong skills for communicating with compassion, fostering mutual respect, and resolving conflicts peacefully. We support the mission of the international Center for Nonviolent Communication by offering a variety of services for individuals, couples, and groups to learn and practice Nonviolent Communication in the Monterey Bay and surrounding areas.

Walnut Commons will consist of 19 condominium units in a three-story LEED compatible building with underground parking and storage. In addition to our privately-owned space, we will share a roof garden, community space on the ground floor, and other shared amenities. We are creating an intentional neighborhood under one roof. Residents commit to build and sustain community through formal and informal gatherings and planned community dinners.

We support the ongoing process of renewing Judaism and bringing its spiritual and ethical vitality into our lives. We draw on Kabbalistic and Chassidic sources, and embrace a global vision of the role of all peoples and paths.

Join the Affordable Housing Now! Campaign We all know there’s a problem – let’s do something. The Affordable Housing Task Force is Taking Action Our Working Principles: 1. Affordable housing development should provide for residents of Santa Cruz County. 2. Affordable housing for moderate to low income residents should be the priority. 3. New development alone cannot solve our housing crisis. 4. Any housing solution must look at ways to make rental housing more affordable. Get involved – join one of our committees to make Affordable Housing a reality. Affordable Housing Experts: Evaluate proposed “solutions” and recommend advocacy positions. State lobbying: Study, track, and lobby for state legislation regarding affordable housing. Advocacy: Publicize local affordable housing public hearings and recruit people to attend.
