Hairstylist Derek Smart’s distinct work reflects his belief in everyone’s potential for transformation. He is known for bringing forth each client’s individual sense of style and for creating hair often described as “pure beauty." Smart found his inspiration as a teen styling his older sister's wigs and pieces as she battled with alopecia. He pursued his dream and began his professional training under renowned British stylist Stephen Wake. Smart found excitement and creativity in the music and fashion of the 1980's. He moved to California after seven years of apprenticing in England and working as a stylist at various high-end salons. Smart spent the next 17 years at salons like the Bungalow on Melrose Place, Sally Hershberger & Johnathan & George salon developing a diverse clientele from the worlds of entertainment, business, fitness, and fashion.
