School of Contemporary Ballet Dallas recently relocated to their Mockingbird Location in January of 2013. The School of CBD was founded by SMU dance alumni to promote a higher quality of dance education and fitness for persons of all ages and skill levels in a positive and fun learning environment The School of CBD offers training by instructors with extensive professional experience. Our instructors encourage all dancers to broaden their artistic horizons and realize their creative potential. CBD has five state of the art studios, 4 being equipped with Harlequin sprung panel floors systems with marley, and one being a sprung panel wood floor. CBD also has state of the art sound equipment to compliment all musical selections, from classical to hip-hop. All teaching methods are geared towards injury-free training. All of our teachers instruct with an injury free approach, keeping in mind that all dancers are not built alike. We like to teach children and adults how to do movements and why, not just to do them. We try to mold smart dancers that understand what their bodies are doing. YOUTHS: CBD recognizes the importance of early exposure to the arts. Children excel in not only academics, but all aspects of life when we cultivate their interest in the arts. The future of dance is rooted in both knowledge and appreciation of the arts; therefore we offer unparalleled training in various forms of dance. Whether their desire is to become a performer or a patron, we seek to educate children in the art of dance, physically and mentally, instilling an appreciation of the art form for years to come. Students learn technique and performance skills such as coordination, flexibility, alignment, endurance, rhythm and strength. Through self-discipline, dedication and constructive criticism, students gain body awareness, creativity and heightened self-esteem, as well as achieve maximum fitness.
