2 Screens. Built in 1919. Operated by Landmark since 1989. Located in the Wallingford neighborhood, the Guild 45th Theatre is situated just west of Seattle's University District. Originally a live stage venue named the Paramount Theatre in the 1920s, it later changed its moniker when a movie palace downtown laid claim to the same name. In 1980, the Guild launched The Stunt Man, starring Peter O'Toole and Barbara Hershey, into national prominence with a record-breaking 43 week run. Francis Ford Coppola has often chosen the Guild for test audience screenings. A second detached auditorium, the Guild 45th II opened in 1983, two doors down, with a cozy restaurant between the theatres. This auditorium has comfy, stadium-style seating, perfect sight lines and a wall-to-wall screen, and is often voted a favorite amongst Seattle moviegoers. Both Guild I and II are 70mm capable and feature Dolby Digital EX sound. Parking is available on surrounding neighborhood streets and in nearby pay lots. Sound Systems: Dolby Surround EX - Dolby Digital - Dolby SR - Dolby Stereo
1 Screen. Built in 1925. Operated by Landmark since 1989. The Seven Gables Theatre is located in Seattle's University District on the corner of 50th and Roosevelt, just around the corner from the Metro Cinemas. It is often described as "that house above the Italian restaurant" because of its cozy exterior of dark, shingled sides and the notorious gabled roof. Originally built in 1925 as an American Foreign Legion dance hall, the building remained theirs until 1976, when Seven Gables Theatres founder Randy Finley converted it into the chain's flagship theatre and corporate office. Today, it features a healthy mix of independent film and foreign language cinema, with the occasional Hollywood favorite thrown in for good measure. Despite its down-home, cozy appearance inside and out, the Seven Gables is equipped for the modern movie-goer, featuring Dolby Digital sound and stadium-style seating. Parking is available in free lot next to theatre or on surrounding neighborhood streets. Sound Systems: Dolby Digital - Dolby SR - Dolby Stereo
