Our Mainstage Season focuses entirely on new work We believe the development of new plays is an essential component of a thriving theatrical community, both here in Hollywood and in the Nation at large. THE BLANK has won every “Best Production” Award possible and received “Critic’s Choice” designations from every major publication in Los Angeles. Our Young Playwrights Festival has produced 220 plays by teen-aged writers in the past 19 years. Winning writers from across the Nation and every walk of life are offered the opportunity to work with a professional writer/mentor. Their plays are then brought to life by teams of seasoned professional directors and actors and each is given several public performances in a month-long Festival. Our Living Room Series is the very embodiment our commitment to develop new writers and new works. Each Monday night we offer a “workshop” production of a new play, free to the public. We offer audiences a rare glimpse into the creative process. Many of these developing works have gone onto full scale productions at THE BLANK, as well as other prestigious national theatres, to wide acclaim.

Since March of 1996, Food on Foot has operated as a volunteer-based, non-profit organization providing hot, nutritious chicken dinners, snacks (fresh fruit, carrots, granola bars and bread), and drinks (bottled water and milk) to as many as 250 homeless and poor individuals and families each week. During our weekly meal service each Sunday in Hollywood, we also distribute gently used clothing and other essentials. Our target population includes individuals of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, as well as the disabled and blind. Work for Food is a 7-day-a-week community trash clean-up program designed to initiate the transition from life on the streets to involvement in the workforce by picking up trash in return for $10 in food gift cards from local fast food restaurants and grocery stores.

What is Movie to Movement? Movie to Movement is a resource that identifies and harnesses movies for this purpose: To use art as a means of fostering and encouraging the promotion of human dignity through the easily consumed movie medium. Art is a reflection of the soul—and Movie to Movement will ensure that through art we will see a real reflection of the inherent dignity of each human being.
We screen potential applicants to make sure the dog is right fit for their home. We require an adoption application and a home-check. Our adoption fees for adult dogs are $300 (puppies under 6-months are $350) and tax-deductible. All dogs are spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption, and come with a DWB ID tag.
H.E.L.P. is a community-based program that delivers one-on-one or small group tutoring for children, youth, and families, as well as training and internships for volunteer tutors. Our mission is to eradicate illiteracy and to empower the individual by training people to become competent, independent learners. H.E.L.P. specializes in: 1. Helping students reach grade level skill in math and reading. 2. Teaching study skills so students can continue to achieve beyond H.E.L.P.'s program. The key to our program lies in our use of L. Ron Hubbard’s Study Technology. Tutors in the program are trained extensively in the use of these materials. Each student's study program is created to take the student, whether child or adult, to new levels of learning. Our community program serves those 9 to Adult, and is delivered at no cost to participants, except a small registration fee.

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free. No one, especially a young person, likes to be lectured about what he or she can or cannot do. Thus, we provide the facts that empower youth to choose not to take drugs in the first place. Additionally our Truth About Drugs campaign consists of activities that they can join which popularize drug-free living. These activities are simple, effective and can involve people of all ages. Through a worldwide network of volunteers, 50 million drug prevention booklets have been distributed, tens of thousands of drug awareness events have been held in some 180 countries and Truth About Drugs public service announcements have been aired on more than 500 television stations. These materials and activities have helped people around the world learn about the destructive side effects of drugs and thereby make the decision for themselves to not use them. The Foundation provides information you need to start a Truth About Drugs education and prevention activity in your area.

Media arts include the work of artists who use communications technology – such as video, film, web and mobile phone devices. Media arts are constantly changing, as artists seize and personalize new and commercial technologies. The work in Freewaves’ events ranges from animation and documentaries to installations and websites. It can be shown anywhere: in a window, projected on a screen or wall, in a club, on a street corner, in a theater, media center or library and, most often, across from a comfy couch. Freewaves’ 2011-2014 project, OUT THE WINDOW, presents hundreds of artists’ videos to L.A. Metro’s 1 million daily bus riders on Transit TV. Creative videos use open-ended, humorous, relatable and questioning strategies to approach viewers with vital images. 2000 buses each have 2 screens and speakers inside. After every video an evocative question about the videos appears with a phone number to text responses. Out-the-window.org shows both the responses and videos, extended by Facebook and Twitter. 500+ riders evaluated the program very positively. Health is the upcoming theme in collaboration with community health clinics, Covered California and 211.

LA Mother is a secret members’ society based in Hollywood. Situated between the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the film and photography studios of Sunset Boulevard, our headquarters are comprised of a coworking space, a multi-purpose events venue and a development agency. Our mission is to connect people through creativity, creating an open environment for artistic expression & collaboration. We believe in fairness, freedom of speech & creativity; we admire excellence, individualism & tenacity – even if your business is just an idea. We want to hear from you! Our society is an oasis of calm in the middle of a concrete jungle. We have workspaces for up to fifty people, a 4000sqft events space and access to a 7000sqft courtyard framed by bougainvillea, complete with its own picturesque fountain. Location We are at Hollywood Blvd & Gower St. LA Fitness, Neuehouse, Buzzfeed, Paramount and many more of the big players are just steps away. We are a five minute walk from the Vine Metro station, with convenient links to all public transport as well as the major freeways by car. Parking On site, we have designated spots for 6 vehicles, with access to an additional 10 parking spots on request. Off site, several nearby parking structures & lots offer cut-rate prices for LA Mother members. Many of the adjacent streets to the venue also boast free street parking. Join LA Mother is open to ALL HUMANS, with an emphasis toward women in the creative community. Full-time members will gain access to our coworking suite seven days a week, along with discounted rates for event rentals. We also have part-time and events-based memberships available. All members of LA Mother will gain access to our roster of in-house events, exclusive discounts & offers from our partners, and free fitness classes.
