Founded by Dr. Diane Sanford, internationally recognized for her work in pregnancy and postpartum emotional health, we provide counseling and mind-body health classes to reduce anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and stress-related disorders. With a specialized focus in women's health, we provide care for: pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety, fertility issues, pregnancy loss, early motherhood, midlife, empty nest, and menopause. Our approach looks at all the factors affecting you including stress, life changes, relationships, self-esteem, and work-life balance to determine your best plan of care. Our treatment combines counseling with mind-body techniques because studies have shown that mind-body skills decrease anxiety, depression, OCD and PTSD symptoms as well as the stress associated with fertility issues, postpartum depression, midlife changes, menopausal symptoms, and sexual dysfunction. Mind-body skills may also reduce the need for medication. Dr. Sanford has studied mind-body skills with Dr. Deepak Chopra and is working to bring these and other stress reduction techniques into her clinical practice. Through her books, videos, and presentations, she educates consumers and health providers about how to improve their well-being.
I have been working with patients with Eating Disorders, Substance Abuse, Self Injury and Trauma for a number of years now. What I have learned is that all behaviors serve a purpose, some are there to protect, some to distract, numb and avoid. Most of the time, these behaviors come in and help us get through things that we are not able to handle, but eventually all of these behaviors become maladaptive. Even when they are maladaptive they are hard to stop, because they feel good in one way or another. That’s when therapy comes in. I feel like many people try to handle their behaviors on their own, and unfortunately that is a tough way to go, particularly when you are filled with shame and guilt about what you have been putting yourself and your loves ones through. Secrets and shame keep you sick and the best way to deal with them is to talk about them. I utilize a straight forward, non-shaming approach to treatment and like to play an active role in the therapeutic process. I integrate CBT, ACT, DBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic psychotherapy, and solution focused therapy to assist patients in obtaining their goals. I am also a hypnotherapist and can help with smoking cessation, self acceptance and other addictive behaviors. Additionally, at times, I find it helpful to do experiential outings (meal outings, shopping outings, exposures to feared places, etc.) and am happy to incorporate these experiences into sessions. Additionally, I think building a good relationship with patients and developing an understanding of their lives are essential in helping patients be successful and achieving their goals. I work collaboratively with my patients' to make sure we're working towards building healthy relationships with food, others and most importantly themselves. I utilize a 3 step model (1) stabilization-learning skills/tools for symptom management; (2) working through-understanding symptoms and beliefs, trauma resolution and interpersonal patterns; (3) relapse prevention-identifying triggers to symptoms and prevention. I am a former Police Officer of nearly 10 yrs experience. My duties as a Police Officer included Field Training Officer, Narcotics Detective, Evidence technician, Detective and Corporal. It quickly taught me, what appears on the surface is quite different than what's on the inside. It also taught me how our environment, experiences, genetics and culture play a role in our development and behavior. When ever I made an arrest or handled a call, I knew there was a reason for the particular person(s) behavior and choice and I wanted to be more of a help. This thought was the impetus for my goal to become a Mental Health Counselor. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Maryville University and my Master of Art in Counseling and Certificate for Psychological Examiner from Missouri Baptist University. I specializes in providing therapy to children, adolescents, young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety/OCD, depression, grief/loss, trauma/abuse and computer/electronic addiction. I also work with children and teens on social skills, self-esteem, oppositional/defiance and problem solving skills. My professional experience also includes working as a school counselor on both the elementary and secondary levels. I offer intelligence, academic and career testing. As part of my practice/service, I conduct career counseling where I help those who are looking, those who are changing and those who are wanting to enhance their career.

Nurses For You, Inc. provides health-care professionals when supplemental home-care services are needed. Care can range from nursing visits to private duty homecare, from 4 to 24 hours per day. Schedules are catered to the clients' needs. We also provide care to clients in extended care facilities. Our staff consists of Missouri and Illinois licensed RN's and LPN's, medical technicians and companions specializing in providing personalized attention and private duty care. Nursing care is administered to the client according to physician orders. The client and family are also involved in the development of the plan of care.
